Maxi is a good player, on a different (higher) wavelength than some of our players.

Also he never has been lightening quick so where did that come from???

Since he has been here how many consecutive games has he played? out of those how many were in the same position (i.e right mid) with the same right back behind him and the same centre mid to the left of him????

He cost us nothing, went to the WC with Argentina and hasn't been here a year yet and posters/fans/delusioned idiots are happy to slag him off or write him off.

Even if we get another player in to play on the right hand side Maxi is exactly the type of quality squad player we have missed in recent years and if he keeps up recent form then he should be the 1st choice on the right hand side.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I agree that pretty much all players struggled under Roy's management but Maxi will have a very limited number of opportunities to prove himself and as soon as Kuyt is back he will be moved to the bench. He is not a type of players like Benny or Solskjaer that can be effective from the bench with 20 minutes left to go so I don't think he will last long.

On that note, he signed on 18-month contract so with little more than 6 months left I don't see us hurrying up to lock in his services.

He will be gone imo and only question is either in January or in summer time.

I think Maxi is a great player; however, his game is all about pass and m ove, quick one touch football and taking intelligent positions. Our season to date has involved little pressing high up the pitch and often the midfield bypassed or sitting too deep. This doesn't suit a number of our players and it is no coincidence that we played our best football when pressing higher and using quick short passing.

Still he doesn't run fast nor do unnecessary step overs, so for the Fifa generation, he'll never be good.
Well said. He's a fine player but wasted in a Hodgson system. Like Lucas he's an intelligent player who likes to keep the ball, play passes to feet and is technically gifted. You don't get to be an automatic choice for Argentina for nothing. In a defensive hoofball system he's wasted

He's utter **** and is not going to get better. Can't shoot, can't beat players, can barely put in a cross. Useless in any system because he's a non factor 95% of the time. Every once in a while he does something which might be useful, or strings a couple of neat passes near the halfway line, which makes people cream over him.

Not a good signing but with us being skint we had to take a chance on players such as himself and it did not pay off.

In fairness, it had a very little probability of success as he was not playing at Athletico before the transfer and that should have been some indication.

Very inconsistent and ocasionally can hit a highlight type of performance like yesterday.

Hopefully he proves me wrong in games to come but I doubt it.

                          Hodgson has a system?
                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I liked your closing so I decided to give my 2 cents to Maxi's skill assessment.

For me, he has been one of the biggest disappointments of the season. I really was convinced he would kick on and prove a very valuable player for us this year. Obviously I’m prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt thanks to Roy, but I do hope he can build on Sunday’s performance and earn himself a new contract. Kuyt is one of my favourite players, but if Maxi is playing well when he’s fit again, there is no reason he shouldn’t keep his place ahead of Dirk. I’m probably reading too much into it, but Maxi was one of the few players that Hodgson came out and dismissed reports linking him with a move away in the summer, so that maybe indicates that he rates him (although come January I’m hoping it won’t be Roy’s decision if he stays or goes).
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

                                Maxi wants Liverpool stay

Maxi Rodriguez does not want to leave Liverpool this summer after insisting he is happy in England.

The Argentine, a January 2010 signing from Atletico Madrid, has become a key part of Kenny Dalglish's plans in the past month, despite suggestions he would be sold.

Maxi has scored four goals in two games, including a hat-trick against Birmingham, and has helped Liverpool overtake Tottenham in fifth position in the Premier League.

The prospect of European football next season, which had looked extremely unlikely, is now within reach and the 30-year-old hopes to still be at Anfield.

"I am really happy here," said Maxi. "The people have treated us really well.

"The type of life we have here, the way of life, is very different to what we were used to after nine years in Spain but I am enjoying everything.

"How can you not enjoy it? I am at a great club and it is great to play here."

Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, are expected to overhaul the playing squad in the summer and it has been reported that Maxi would be sacrificed.

But, with two years remaining on his contract, the wide-man is focused on life at Anfield and hopes to help the club to European glory and a return to the Premier League's top four.

"Obviously it is everyone's dream to play in the Champions League. Not just for the players, but for the club," said Maxi.

"That is where Liverpool want to be and deserve to be. But at the moment that is maybe not realistic so getting in the Europa League is our target.

"If we have to play in the Europa League, we will play in it and try to win it."
