Thanjk you.

In the six PL fixtures Raul Meireles did not start we scored a mere two goals in them, recording a miserable five points. Think about that, Kenny and Damien, please, before you sell him.
Interesting...
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
5 of those games were under the Bodge though, so over play his significance IMO
He didn't start the first 4 games of the season (Arsenal (H) 1-1, Man City (A) 0-3, West Brom (H) 1-0, & Birmingham (A) 0-0 where he was sub) and Hodgson's last game (Blackburn (A) 1-3)
The only game he missed under Kenny was Tottenham (H) 0-2
When put into this context things look different IMO
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I assumed the stats might have been skewed somewhat by Hodgson, but thought it was still worth posting. Interesting that he started all bar one under Kenny, although obviously Gerrard played a major role in this. Can you remember why he missed the Spurs game?

It was certainly worth posting
I think he was injured, IIRC he went off in the Fulham game.

I think it was interesting and certainly worth posting, but as can often be the case with stats you have examine them in context to determine their value.

Stats always need context, they are of limited value in isolation
YOU never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Which is why Raul Meireles is the midfielder most vulnerable as Liverpool stockpile central midfielders this summer.
Even though Kenny Dalglish had been a keen student of almost every Liverpool match during his time in managerial exile, it wasn’t until he stepped off a boat in January that he had an active interest in what was happening on the field.
And on day one at Old Trafford he saw his skipper sent off for reacting to Meireles coming off second best in a tackle.
To be fair to the Portuguese, that tackle by Rafael was a poor one.
But it was far from the only time last season that Gerrard et al had to pick up the cudgel on the midfielder’s behalf.
Not so much a Portuguese Man of War, as a Latin lover.
Technically Meireles was excellent. But aggressively he was lacking.
Last season he won 38 tackles and lost 20. And in the English Premier League that’s not good enough.
Charlie Adam isn’t renowned for his tackling. But he still won 162 tackles last term.
Meireles is also 28-years-old – and demanding improved terms on his contract.
Sweet though his strikes were at Wolves, Stamford Bridge and in the Anfield derby, he looks the most likely to make way in the great Anfield shake up this summer.
