So..... Raul Meireles........

All in all a good debut season in the league for me. But where do people see him fitting next year?

Is he deserving of a first team place, or is a squad player? I know footballs a squad game, and I'm sure regardless he'll play his fair share of games.

But in the big games the best players tend to be in the starting XI. does he fit into that category?

If we have a half decent summer, he becomes a squadie IMO. Can't see where he would fit into the team once SG is fit and we buy a decent wide midfielder/forward.

It'd be wise to wait til we actually sign all these players who are apparently going to take Meireles' place in the team, before we demote him to ballboy.

Exactly, lets just wait and see what calibre of players we actually buy first, we've been here before, the players we want seem to go by the way, and i'm yet to be convinced that will change just yet.

If we end up with a situation where Meireles is a squad player and he feels ok with that, then we are a good situation IMO. He is a good player, and is better at keeping that flowing passing game then Gerrard IMO. (Not saying he's better!)

I think last week showed his worth to the team, his ability to link up with Suarez, Maxi and Kuyt makes us a lot more fluid and has contributed greatly to our best form this season.

He must extremely hard to mark as he has a great engine and keeps getting into great positions. Personally I think he is a first team player but he has to worse tackler in the first team.

Yep decent first season for me. Without that goal streak he had it might've been more debatable, but he's done well on the whole, especially as he's played on the right or left a lot of the time - positions which are alien to him. Intelligent player who I think will be better next season.

He's also a cracking volleyer of the ball. I've always loved a volley specialist, they seem to be a dying breed. If there's a better volleyer of a ball in the Prem then I haven't seen him.

Yep decent first season for me. Without that goal streak he had it might've been more debatable, but he's done well on the whole, especially as he's played on the right or left a lot of the time - positions which are alien to him. Intelligent player who I think will be better next season.

He did alright for this first year especially as he played almost entire season out of his natural position.

He needs to work hard in pre-season cause if we buy the right caliber of players this summer, his playing time could be significantly reduced.
