    Completely.

I'm not his biggest fan, but it's very harsh on Raul to keep on pointing out his tackling stats. He's an attacking midfielder and spent a lot of time out wide last season - he's not there to do a Lucas or a Mascherano-type job.

It is speculation but given it's consistently been reported that he is looking for a pay rise and at the same time his chances of first team foobtall are deminishing I suspect there might be some basis in it. Having said that I don't see the need to bring up Gerrard's sending off in Kenny's first game as motivation for it.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

        It's getting ridiculous.

Reina's shooting is **** and shows no sign of improving.

I think the second point is really what I was reacting too. There is something in the fact that we have too many CMs and along with Poulsen one of Meireles and Aquilani will probably have to leave. The article however is just an arbitrary attack in the style of some of the more rabid posts we get on here. You tend to hope for better from the Echo.

I think it's been clear than Meireles isn't capable of playing effectively as a centre midfielder in the Premiership, he did well for us last season in other positions, but it seems those positions probably won't be available to him next year, that's the reason to move him on. Despite what people perceive his tacking ability to be he had a good season for us last year, and if he does leave, he can do so IMO with his head held high, there are no need for these types of attacks (particularly by the press).

I also think that it is quite possible to go for a less tackle orientated defensive system (I know that sounds daft, but hear me out). What I mean is that a pressing/interception based approach can work but relies on the team working together rather than individuals making tackles. There were times that Meirles backed away when he needed to at least get his body in the way but it could be something that he adapts to do more.

No that makes sense, didn't Sami Hyypia make quite a low number of tackles per game for a centre back, essentially because his reading of the game was so good he could nip in an win possession before he needed to make a tackle.

Although I don't ever remember Sami backing away from a tackle

                    Exactly how I read it.

And no way did Adam win 162 tackles, not a chance. (Patiently waits to be proven embarrassingly wrong)
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

And Konchesky will never make it as a defender. Oh, what's that you say?

                      Very well said.

Wish we can keep them both but I cannot see Raul and Aquilani both in our squad for next season.

If I have to choose who to keep, for me it would be healthy and motivated to prove himself Aqua man.

If Aquilani does stay for next season I'm definitely applying a word filter on this forum to all possible combinations of "Aqua-man"

What? 4 a game? I reckon even the chunkiest of armchair fans could win 4 tackles a game
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Is there not an immediate ban or even sin-bin function?
