Hmmmm jury is still out on Sterling for me. I have always had reservations on him even when he was slugging it out for the reserves. He seems to thrive when defenders are on the backfoot and tired. His game seems to improve after 75 mins but his contribution up until that point is very very poor. Maybe he needs a rest or maybe he has been found out already? Or maybe he just isn't ready yet for the first team. Problem is, we just don't have many options - Assaidi is either extremely **** or has slept with someones mum at the club.
Last week he may have got one assist but he gave the ball away over 20 times. You can highlight that assist and give a big thumbs up but he will not got assists every week. But it's his contribution and any other players (except maybe strikers) that needs to be analysed over 90 mins. Today it was much the same really. His control was lacking and every time he dribbled and pushed the ball forwards, he always knocked it too far forward and the defenders tackled him. This is so frustrating to watch and he does it every game.
There are figures of £15m flying around at the moment and if that figure is true and clubs are willing to pay that, I know what I would if I was charge...
This is just my opinion which not many will shareMy kebab comes with chilli sauce

Jesus, the kid is 18 years old. I'll say it again. EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD.Originally posted by saj View PostHmmmm jury is still out on Sterling for me. Judging him either way is frankly ridiculous. He's been thrown in the deep end because we have so few viable options. There is no way he should be playing this many games at this stage of his career. But there is little choice.Oh I don't know.

I have mentioned all your points in my post. If "rumours" are to be believed and the "kid" is demanding a seasoned, proven professionals salary then maybe he should be judged like an adult? Football is a business now - players are commodities. £15m is a lot of money for player who is not proven. He could well become the next Messi or the next Pennant. We have have had far better 18 year olds at this club over the years and IMO we can easily get over his loss assuming he was to leave.Originally posted by dom9 View PostJesus, the kid is 18 years old. As I mentioned I'm not just judging him on performances for the first team, I am also considering the the level of his performances for the reserves. He looked amazing in some games but when the opposition was of a higher standard (namely in the Next Gen series), he was pretty bad. But it's not his fault he has been thrown in at the deep end.My kebab comes with chilli sauce
