Makes me so sad that Sterling and Suso aren't getting any minutes off the bench for the first team
Sterling yes, but as for Suso, he's been poor this season overall. Nothing like he was last year. Still got time, and ability, but i expected him to push on after next year and i don't think he's done that.

Would love him to prove me wrong.
Perhaps he needs more of a challenge though. Whether our first team or somewhere else. I think there is a real danger that talented players stagnate playing reserve football and whilst we seem to have improved the number of promising players we have we haven't developed an attacking talent in a long time.

I've been saying the same for a while, I'd say that once a player has started 'staring' for the reserves on a regular basis we should be looking to get them loan deals and first team football somewhere as IMO play more reserve team football doesn't help them.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We missed the boat with Nemeth and Pacheco when both were in hot form with the reserves.
IMO one or possibly more of the subs should be one of the youngsters/reserves. This season theres been countless times when we've had Carragher, Coates and Kelly on the bench, why?
Have one of the three (probably Kelly who can do both centre back and right back roles) or possibly two of them on the bench and the spare place should go to the outstanding reserve player.
This is then the incentive for the reserves to do well and it shows know progression to the first team for the talented few.

I'd imagine keeping Kelly on the bench as a full back and one of Carragher/Coates as a centre back is the most we need really. There is no need for all three. As you say the last place should be there to give an opportunity to one of the up and coming youngsters.

I thought that was the idea of the two extra slots on the bench? I think it was Wenger who suggested that the FA should make a ruling so that teams have to name two underage players on their bench and I agree.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'd think you'd need to add Andre Wisdom into the mix, he looks an outstanding prospect at CB.

No offence, but they've hardly gone on to prove they deserved a chance in the first team

No offence taken, they've both turned out quite average
What i was saying was had we blooded them when they were on form things may have been different, they would have had a boost by being involved with the first team and gained valuable experience at the top level.
agree with some of the lads who are suggesting that any decent prospects that look like they may become first team players could only benefit from a couple of loan spells at lower league clubs. the day to day graft and real competitive matches will stand them in good stead when they arrive back at Anfield and they are then man enough to start for the first team.

Sterling unrest alerts Tottenham who prepare move for Liverpool outcast

Liverpool are facing a fight to keep wonderkid Raheem Sterling as Kenny Dalglish continues to ignore calls for the teenager to be handed a first-team role.
And Tottenham plan to pounce on the uncertainty over Sterling's future with a shock summer move.
The England Under 18 star is widely recognised as the best young prospect at Anfield but the Merseysiders could lose the 17-year-old at the end of the season due to his frustration at the lack of first-team chances.
Red alert: Sterling is frustrated at lack of first-team opportunities
Sources close to the forward claim the talented teen is struggling to settle in Merseyside and is now said to be considering his future.
The source also added that Liverpool have broken promises made to Sterling over his level of first-team involvement this season.
In 2010, Liverpool paid QPR £500,000, in a deal that could rise to £6million, to sign Sterling as a 15-year-old.
In February 2011, he looked set to become the youngest player in Liverpool's history - at 16 years and 71 days - when he was named in the squad to face Sparta Prague in the Europa League.
Bright future: Sterling has represented England at junior levels
However, he is still to make his full debut despite being told he would be given chances.
Sterling is set to feature in tomorrow night's NextGen Series semi-final against Ajax and Sportsmail has learned that a senior Tottenham scout will attend the clash specifically to watch the youngster.
