I think there is a gamble possibly worth taking with Sterling.

i think that if he was forced to stay and we made CL next season he'd sign a new deal.

Whether CL footy next season happens is another matter.

but 50-60 mil now would have to be taken and it might of been anyway before all this furore because its just too good a sum to pass up for a player who hasn't produced that level of performance yet.

Horrible little boy! £50m+ for pace, a bit of trickery and the occasional end product is an absolute steal for us. He's never been fully rated by a lot of fans due to the above, not just my words. No bitterness from me, I've always supported the club first!

Maybe, and hopefully it will give us more than Raheem would for the future, but the 75 we got for Suarez doesn't look to brilliant tbh.

Think we can add a few mill from the not to distant past to that too.

My point is though, it's hard to find players good enough to play for our super wealthy rivals before our rivals find them first, with Sterling we seem to have one, and i'm not sure at all we'll find another if we spent that 50mill twice.

But that's just me, i'm feeling a tad meh over the business the club has done since the takeover.

The one thing not mentioned though that could impact on the clubs future and strategy, is that if we are seen to be playing hard ball with every young un we sign that comes good and wants to leave, will the best young un's agents let them join us ? and if they do, will they want certain guarantees contract wise?

If the young ones coming to the club are thinking like that, then I wouldn't want them tbh. I do not want our club to become a pit stop for the best emerging talent.

I don't mind losing a world class talent to a club every once in a while, but for average to good players to be jumping ship it gets a bit ridiculous.
