damn right. sterling will be on massive money at city, he can stick in his transfer request and then go and piss about over there. at least will will save some wages/payoff to offset the money QPR will take out of the deal.

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

To give a comparison - I still like MacManaman, but hate Owen for all those smirking interviews where he said he was ready to sign. Both went to Real Madrid on the cheap when the club was in a similar position. One did it the right way, one the wrong way.
How about Suarez, who totally disgraced the club, did interviews about his liking for other clubs and his wish to join them, even Arsenal!!!

I know people will say...'oh but at least he put in a good season after we made him stay', but should that excuse how he acted towards this club and fans.

I have no problem with Suarez doing that either, it's what makes him the player he is, determination and bloody mindedness that he's doing the best for himself.

Just seems a bit hypocritical of fans to single out a player for abuse, and yet adore the player that behaved the worst towards the club simply because he's a better player.

Then there's players willing to force moves to LFC when we want them, should we call them money grabbing cunts and dislike them too ?

Suarez got tons of abuse and his situation was a lot more complicated than Sterling, so can't really be compared.

Ultimately though, they are footballers and footballers move clubs, so I agree with you that fans tend to overreact when this happens. I don’t blame Sterling, as I’ve mentioned before a lot of fans didn’t show him loyalty, so why should she show it to us now, but I am disappointed he’s leaving and can understand why fans are annoyed as IMO, he hasn’t really earned a move away yet, unlike the like of Suarez or Torres. The club have gave him more than he’s given back at this stage, which is why it’s slightly different for me and feels a bit disrespectful, but £50m will obviously soften the blow.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The only difference is that Suarez acted worse than Sterling has imo, and i don't think he needed any urging from his agent either.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

The only distaste I have for Sterling is the interview with the Beeb and his performances in the latter part of the season, he looked uninterested. Suarez gave his all no matter what

To me thats one of the reasons I wouldnt keep him against his wishes, if he wants to go thats fine slap in the transfer request and we will move things along. I am pretty certain if we keep him he will sulk and we will have an ever-decreasing asset on our hands

On top of all that we have the parade of misdemeanors (smoking those pipes and twice on the laughing gas)

I'd rather wipe my hands of him and move on

Raheem Sterling: Liverpool winger 'is most valuable young player'

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling is the most valuable young player in Europe, a new study claims.

Sterling, the subject of a failed £40m bid from Manchester City, has been given a weighted value of £35m by the Soccerex 20 Football Value Index.

Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw is ranked ninth, Everton's John Stones 16th and Arsenal's Calum Chambers 19th.

The study analyses players of all nationalities aged under 21 and playing in Europe.
It determines their value based on their age, position, club, contract length, market value perception, international caps, minutes played, goals, injuries and technical quality.

"Combining all the factors, we came up with Sterling as the most valuable," the study's author Esteve Calzada said.

Football Value Index, top 10 & English players

                1. Raheem Sterling (Liverpool) £35m
                7. Mateo Kovacic (Inter Milan) £18.5m
                2. Marquinhos (Paris St-Germain) £27.8m
                8. Jose Gaya (Valencia) £18.3m
                3. Memphis Depay (Manchester United) £23.8m
                9. Luke Shaw (Manchester United) £18m
                4. Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo) £21.6m
                10. Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao) £17m
                5. Jose Gimenez (Atletico Madrid) £21.4m
                16. John Stones (Everton) £12m
                6. Hakan Calhanoglu (Bayer Leverkusen) £19.4m
                19. Calum Chambers (Arsenal) £10.6m

Paris St-Germain's Brazilian defender Marquinhos is ranked second at £27.8m with Manchester United new boy Memphis Depay - signed for £31m - third at £23.8m.

Calzada says the Football Association rule that Premier League clubs must have eight home-grown players in their squads makes English players more expensive.

England's total of four representatives on the list is more than any other nation, while nine of the top 20 will be playing in the Premier League next season.

"That shows the strength of the competition," Calzada added.

"We are used to seeing high-value domestic-only transfers in the UK. This is just another way to prove that."

So this table has him valued at £35m but we want £50m. Not sure it is very helpful. Or have I misunderstood it?

Arbitrary figures though - he's worth whatever City will pay - £50M thank you & good riddance

I'm amazed at how many seem to be happy with the idea of getting shot of Sterling. He's been a bit of a fool but he's a young talented footballer we have on our books which generally aren't that easy to replace.

He's most likely gone but good riddance; really

Yep seems to have been written off by many as a waste of a squad space, and given the clear interest for him that seems foolish. Him 'Downing tools' seems to be accepted as fact by many too. Rather than the idea that a 19/20 year old can go through erratic form.

I think hes been a bit of a git. Hes also been badly advised, and the links to his agent seem to be less than totally above the table. But he still plays for us, and until the time when he doesnt he has my full backing.

Jumped up little **** who's too big for his boots & not as good as he thinks he is - his behaviour has been out of order

How does his behaviour differ from Suarez? A player we were desperate to keep? Admittedly the final season Suarez was here I wanted him gone as I thought he was an arse. But that wasn't because he wanted to leave. That was more to do with his lack of human interaction skills on and off the pitch.

good question. The value is spot on, imo, but there's a few things that are not taken into account, like for example: it's one big club selling to another and we have developed him since young age. Plus, he's one of our best players and the club don't want to sell so there needs to be some sort of compensation there.

All in all, £50m is good business for everyone all round (even Man City).

Agreed - It doesn’t differ that much – I didn’t like the way he behaved either. But Suarez’s reasons to leave weren’t down to money more down to moving to be with his family
