i think the main differences between Suarez and Sterling are as follows:

    1. Suarez was professional in that he would put aside his future as soon as he crossed the white line. He gave his all and would put his body on the line for the team. Similar to Ronaldo with United really - in the off season he would spout about how he wanted to leave but when he didn't get his move, then he just got his head down until the next summer. Sterling made all of this public during the season.....and effectively disrupted the teams season with his future. His future put the teams progress in doubt and in my opinion contributed (not solely to blame by any means but certainly a factor) in our ****e end to the season. His contract, him and his agent throwing his toys out of the pram during the season and his legal high incident all point to a prick in my opinion.

    2. Suarez is genuinely better than the team. He outgrew LFC (the team, not the club) and when you look at him at 27 years old, he deserves to be playing champions league football every season and winning titles. Sterling on the other hand is a player with huge potential but the application of a spoilt prick.

I don't actually blame sterling per-se. He has had people like Aidy Ward blow smoke up his arsehole since he was about 13 years old..... he genuinely believes he is a legend in the making and better than his teammates. I put him in the ashley cole category or arsehole ******...... greedy cunt.....

And to be honest, i would prefer a young Mata, Silva or Coutinho representing LFC any day of the week. For me, even if Sterling agreed to a £120k per week contract i wouldnt give it to him at this stage - because of the ****ty example it will have set to the likes of Ibe, Coutinho and the others like Wilson and Ojo coming up as well....

Suarez is Suarez though, so hard to compare his form with anyone, as it's just continuous.

Other more mortal players aren't like that, and we have no idea if Sterling was trying his utmost or whether his form just dipped, or if he just decided not to play knowing top clubs would still want him if he played like ****.

For what it's worth, had he a different agent, i think there's every chance he'd be signing a new deal, but in reality, what players turn down the chance to sign for what are perceived to be at the time one of worlds biggest clubs, monetary wise anyway, and with a better probability of success in comparison to where we are now, every one of our squad would want that move tbf. (except Milner )

Same old repeated arguments in this thread.

I can think of very few who would be happy to see him leave. Given the choice I think 90% of fans would rather he stay, it's hardly the minority.

The only things I have seen people say are that if he wants to leave, then good riddance & if we get £50m, City would be over paying. Bottom line is that if Sterling signed a new deal tonight people would be happy in the knowledge he was now committed.

Same point stands - you don't sell one of your better players if you can keep them.
        Forwards.......

Really ? Not sure it's been all so magnanimous tbh.

What's all this crap about sterling being tired? Didn't we give him an all expenses trip to the Caribbean or somewhere of that ilk to rest up during the season?

I think that was more a telling sign of our awareness he was close to burn out than to satisfy his ego. It clearly didn't work and perhaps should be filed in the 'reasons to sell column'

Well he better get back on the phone to his agent and get someone to stump up the cash for him.

Raheem Sterling tells Liverpool he wants to be left out of pre-season tour

                      • Sterling wants to force through move to Manchester City
                      • Liverpool travel to Far East and Australia on Sunday

                      Andy Hunter
                      Tuesday 7 July 2015 22.30 BST

Raheem Sterling has left Brendan Rodgers in no doubt over his determination to push for a transfer to Manchester City by informing the Liverpool manager he wants to be left out of the pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia.

The England forward has held talks with the Liverpool manager since returning to training on Monday. It is understood he not only reiterated his desire to leave this summer but asked to be omitted from the two-week trip to Thailand, Australia and Malaysia. Liverpool’s squad depart for Bangkok on Sunday and are not due back on Merseyside until Saturday 25 July.

Sterling’s hardline stance further demonstrates the breakdown in relations since the 20-year-old rejected a £100,000-a-week contract extension last season. It also opens the way for City to make a third offer for the winger, who is under contract at Liverpool until 2017 on a £35,000-a-week deal.

Liverpool have not had contact with City since their second bid was rejected last month, although a fresh approach is expected soon.

City have had two bids rejected by Liverpool, a £25m offer rising to £30m plus a £35m rising to £40m package. The Anfield club value the player at £50m and would want the bulk of the money up front. Queens Park Rangers, his former club, are due 20% of any sell-on fee.

Whether Liverpool accede to Sterling’s request to be left out depends on an acceptable offer arriving from City before Sunday rather than the player’s wishes.

Rodgers expects Sterling to travel and play if selected for their first friendly, in Bangkok on Tuesday, should the situation remain. Luis Suárez teamed up with Liverpool on their pre-season tour of Australia in 2013 while agitating for a move to Arsenal.

Despite their current stance, Liverpool are considering alternatives should the England forward eventually complete a move to the Etihad Stadium. The Barcelona winger Pedro is a possible target despite only recently signing a four-year contract with the European champions.

Denis Cheryshev, the Real Madrid winger who spent last season on loan at Villarreal, is another option that appeals to the Liverpool manager.

Rodgers also hopes to add the Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke to his squad before the start of the campaign, irrespective of whether Sterling stays or goes.

Cheeky little ****. He'll do as he's told as long as LFC are paying his wages. I'd make him go and bench him the entire tour just to take the piss.

Best off keeping him away from the rest of the side. He doesn't want to be here, his contract issues took over the last few months of the season... lets not let it over shadow a hugely important pre season.

Either way he should be made to hand in a transfer request. No way should the little **** be allowed to get a loyalty bonus.

It's unbelievable that someone who has achieved so little in the game can make demands as if he's Ronaldo.

Do we know for a fact he's not or is this just some big arse assumption everyone's running with to build up a bit of extra ire?

I'm not saying he has or he hasn't handing one in but in no way should he take Any part of the transfer fee after the way he's acted. Just ship him out asap so he can sit on the city bench before being sold to Sunderland in 3 years.
