Suarez wanted to leave because he was ambitious and wanted to earn the top money. Every human alive wants to earn the money their ability deserves if you know what I mean.

He kicked and screamed until he got it too by the looks of it. No different to Sterling. They just want to win and earn money.
    *Except Michael, who died.

Or Suarez was better at playing the PR game

Behaviour doesn't differ but the effect their departure will have/had does. Emotionally Suarez's departure was heartbreaking as the fans could see what we could become with him. Most fans think we'll carry on regardless of whether Sterling stays or goes

So Sterling wants to go then? Is it not OK for fans to say 'turrah then, gtfo'

Have you read the Suarez book Alex?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think it's his attitude that people want rid of. He's a vey talented guy but he literally downed tools for most of the second half of the season. If he wants outs fair enough but the way he went about it was pretty poxy & that interview

We do not need players at LFC that have one foot out the door. I honestly don't care if we sell him, once we get a great fee. We don't need that kind of attitude at the club & from one so young. The minute the whole contract thing started, he decided to stop playing... and we really needed him. Suarez was a ****er the way he went about it alright but sure at least he gave everything for the club on the pitch.

If he wants out, let him leave. Best for both parties

I don't think he downed tools, I think he was knackered

Personally I just think that his mind was elsewhere & all the talk off the pitch over shadowed everything. If he wants out, so be it. City could have a superstar on their hands, well that or the next Aaron Lennon.

This business about his agents fees etc, am I missing something?

Raheem Sterling's agent receives X% of what sterling receives and then sterling receives Y% of what his agent gets from him.

Could we not simplify this formula as Sterlings Agent gets X-Y% of what Sterling gets and is in fact therefore undercutting other agents?

I've been trying to identify a tax benefit for either party, but it eludes me so far?

I think hes been a bit of a git. Hes also been badly advised, and the links to his agent seem to be less than totally above the table. But he still plays for us, and until the time when he doesnt he has my full backing.
I hope he brings his Downing tools to City. They'll soon regret that 50M splurge.

Raheem Sterling: Liverpool winger 'is most valuable young player'

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling is the most valuable young player in Europe, a new study claims.

Sterling, the subject of a failed £40m bid from Manchester City, has been given a weighted value of £35m by the Soccerex 20 Football Value Index.

Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw is ranked ninth, Everton's John Stones 16th and Arsenal's Calum Chambers 19th.

The study analyses players of all nationalities aged under 21 and playing in Europe.
It determines their value based on their age, position, club, contract length, market value perception, international caps, minutes played, goals, injuries and technical quality.

"Combining all the factors, we came up with Sterling as the most valuable," the study's author Esteve Calzada said.

Football Value Index, top 10 & English players

                            1. Raheem Sterling (Liverpool) £35m
                            7. Mateo Kovacic (Inter Milan) £18.5m
                            2. Marquinhos (Paris St-Germain) £27.8m
                            8. Jose Gaya (Valencia) £18.3m
                            3. Memphis Depay (Manchester United) £23.8m
                            9. Luke Shaw (Manchester United) £18m
                            4. Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo) £21.6m
                            10. Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao) £17m
                            5. Jose Gimenez (Atletico Madrid) £21.4m
                            16. John Stones (Everton) £12m
                            6. Hakan Calhanoglu (Bayer Leverkusen) £19.4m
                            19. Calum Chambers (Arsenal) £10.6m

Paris St-Germain's Brazilian defender Marquinhos is ranked second at £27.8m with Manchester United new boy Memphis Depay - signed for £31m - third at £23.8m.

Calzada says the Football Association rule that Premier League clubs must have eight home-grown players in their squads makes English players more expensive.

England's total of four representatives on the list is more than any other nation, while nine of the top 20 will be playing in the Premier League next season.

"That shows the strength of the competition," Calzada added.

"We are used to seeing high-value domestic-only transfers in the UK. This is just another way to prove that."
People formally study this stuff? Presumably someone commissions and pays for this research?

                            Staggering.
                            Oh I don't know.

I think the whole thing has gone crazy, I don't like the amount of stick people are giving him, he is still our player, he's a young kid, who has been given some bad advice and hasn't portrayed himself in a good light. If he were prepared to sign a new contract I would be happy for him to stay - I don't think it would happen but still.

Last season he was the attacking player we relied on more than anyone, at 20 years old, he played game after game out of his favoured position and his performances were erratic, that's what you would expect from someone in his position. The idea that he 'downed tools' is nonsense.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Sorry but don't accept this tired out playing football once/twice a week on top of organised training and physical well being sessions..... Probably the best nutritional / physiotherapy you can get before and after.?

The only thing tired was probably his mental state having seen n his agent (and himself) make a right meal of his situation which left a sour taste tbh.

Mental fatigue + couldn't be arsed, not physical for me.
