Sterling isn't a local lad. He doesn't care about the club. A league here wouldn't mean more or less than one anywhere else. He's never had his name chanted by the Kop and just as we started to warm to him he's brushed us off.

At present we don't have top players and we won't win top prizes. If he has a chance to go and play with better players, compete at the highest level, on the biggest stage, on more money - hell, he'd be crazy to stay.

I could say he should look long term, but players are arrogant and think they can waltz into any team and be first choice. And looking at the City team - Navas & Milner were on their right side. One was inconsistent and ones left. He will start as first choice and up to him to stay in the side.
Seeing that we don't look like winning the league in the near future then fair enough. How do teams like Everton or Stoke hold on to players when they have very little chance of winning anything. Ever

Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher would not trade their 1 Champions League trophy with Liverpool for 10 league titles with Man United.

Any player at our club who values improving themselves without regard for improving Liverpool can do one
Completely different for local players though.

And if you're a Sterling or Coutinho it's not like you're getting success on a plate. There's enough competition between the elite clubs both here and in Europe that you can always tell yourself you helped achieve that success (unless you sat on the bench for most matches, missing the Kop. )

Now that we have consistently started to do this I look forward to continuity amongst the playing staff for the foreseeable

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

To take this further, the idiot Chelsea/Utd fans that ridicule Gerrard secretly wish he did leave for Chelsea. The fact he stayed grates them no end.

I expect the chavs to come in with an offer, particularly now that JT has had his say on how ambitious he thinks Sterling is.

I think Mourinho had a comment a short while back about greedy young players and agents, don't think he'd put up with a lot of **** tbh.
                    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Experience has taught me never to believe what that man says, awful man who plays psychology games wherever he goes.

I just see him going to City and being another Nasri who earns big money and wins trophies but never his input that made the difference, another player whose ego is bigger than his talent.

On that Sterling note, I had completely forgot about the booing and jeering going on in the stadium a few seasons ago when he was still a young kid.

Is it any wonder he has little loyalty towards us now? I also wonder how many of them dickheads that were verbally abusing him then are now calling him a traitor or money grabbing whatever.

And before anyone wants to rewrite history and pretend it didn’t happen or accuse me of exaggerating, there is another poster on here who had a rant about it at the time, so it wasn’t a one off.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'd forgotten about this. He was moaning about not getting games way back then. Warning signs were there pretty much from the word go.

Is this prick not gone yet.

We should be booting the disturbances out the door as quickly as we are recruiting.
