According to wikipedia Sakho captained PSG in the Europa League in 2010 (when he would have been about 20) because Makelele was unavailable, so it sounds to me like he was vice-captain or captain for some games. He only became "first choice captain" (club captain) in 2011-12 when he would have been ~22.

That is fairly young, and I still maintain fairly uncommon, also it is more common for defensive minded players to be made captain than attacking players, so IMO you are more likely to see a young CB as captain than a young winger.

The issue for me isn't so much about Sterling's age, even if he were committed to the club I don't think he is mature enough to be captain, and I am not sure he has the right mentality. Suarez for example is a fantastic player for us but IMO would have made a terrible captain because he doesn't have the right mentality.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He broke into the PSG first team at 17 and was immediately handed the captain’s armband on his league debut by manager Paul Le Guen in an effort to gee-up some of PSG’s established first-teamers at the time. Sakho remains the youngest captain the club’s history and the youngest in Ligue 1.

Bit harsh. In the prem only, Sterling 7 goals 7 assists. Henderson 6 goals 9 assists, and sterling had an extra 34 shots to reach that 1 goal. For the whole season, Sterling 13 goals 9 assists. Henderson 8 goals 14 assists. Can't really say he carried us and Henderson was a passenger.

I'd be more than happy if Sterling left. Last season it was his court disputes. This season his agent and ****ting on the club. Whats next season? He can take his circus act with him.

Henderson doesn't have the same self-belief and confidence that Sterling does. As captain, I think it's always good for it to be a player with those attributes as it can spread positivity on and off the pitch.

There's no way I'd give it to Sterling now, but I was just saying that at one point in the season, he was showing the maturity to deserve it.

He started the season well, but went off the boil. He did well considering he isn't a striker when played up top. At no point did he carry us. As you said in your previous post. Nor has shown any maturity at all, be it on the pitch or in particular, off it.

To think we'd have a lad as captain who had the maturity to use legal highs. Ridiculous. A captain should be whiter than white off the field.

I hope he stays. It'll never happen but I'd be made up if he did. Possibilities and strength in depth.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I hope he stays. I don't think he'll ever be worth £50m but it's never a good idea to sell one of your better players. I think all our transfer business has been done with it in mind that he stays.

Hence we won't be seeing any striker arrive until we have unloaded a few players now.

I'm one of the people who feel that one day soon he'll calm down in front of goal and become a superstar.
