Too right. People think we can get big money for him yet don't think he has all the tools to be world class. The only reason clubs will pay big money for him is because he can go all the way. He's getting dogs abuse at the games too apparently, why would he want to stay! It's hard enough signing top class players without letting those with the potential to get there to leave.Originally posted by Muddled View PostI think peoples judgement of Sterling is becoming clouded by his current contract situation.
Sterling has grown in stature in each of the three seasons he has progressed with us. He looked good with Suarez and Sturridge, but looked equally as good without both of them in the first half of this season. He's our top scorer and one behind Henderson in terms of assists. Why we suddenly think Ibe is a ready made replacement, I don't know. Sure, he has potential, but he's only shown flashes of brilliance in a Liverpool shirt and a year younger (?) than Sterling. One has been out on loan, the other has been proving himself for nearly three years in a Liverpool shirt.
His drop in form coincides with the fall-out from his contract negotiations and being asked to accommodate a number of different positions. Recently, he's lost his head. Whether that's because he's on his way out or because of the flack he's on the receiving end of, we'll surely find out. It has nothing to do with his ability, he has just lost focus.
Why should we want to further improve the Manchester City or Cheksea squads? Sterling clearly has bags of talent and is well on his way to fulfilling his potential. Consistency will come with experience and the lad has over 100 games under his belt already. We have the makings of a world class talent and people are willing to cash in on the hope we can get somebody better or that Ibe realises his potential.
We should be doing whatever we can to keep him at Liverpool (but within reason and not by bowing down to his wage demands) and look to build an attack around Sterling, Coutinho and Markovic.

City buying a much more expensive (albeit better) version of Sinclair. Get it done quickly. City won't have significantly strengthened, most of their FFP budget out the window and we'll have real money (fee and wages) in the transfer window for at least one star player.Originally posted by Bender View Post@Musker_LFC: Man City are interested in Raheem Sterling. I wouldn't sell this summer under any circumstances, even if he refuses all contract offers he has 2 years left.
We struggle to attract top signings so the least we can do is not be dictated to by the players we have.
Perform better as a team next season, get back in the CL and he'll sign, if not we'd still get very good money for him as with 1 year left they'd be a hell of an auction for him driving his price up.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I think he's a quality player but I would certainly listen to a big offer. The only thing that worries me is our incoming transfer record, where ordinarily if a club got £50m they would buy two top class players that combine to the same value but we seem to get worse as time goes on and seem to spunk large amounts of money on players who "struggle to adapt".

Raheem sterling is brilliant. One of the best attacking players in the league until he gets to the final third where it falls down a bit. Someone like Chelsea or city would look at that and think there's plenty of improvement to be had there combined to his general all round play.
If someone offers the sort of money being spoken about I think we should take it. It looks like he wants to move on.

If we get a £40/50m cash offer then sell up. Raheem Sterling isn't going to be the difference maker for us next season. I'll take my chances of Ojo or Harry Wilson making a similar impact within the next 12-18 months. Take the cash now and buy ready to roll talent. Not Southampton players, not Swansea players - proper CL calibre players and stop targeting mid-table crud.
