In that area no. Top top players can ping the ball. It's a skill you either have or not. But to be world class at football, you have to be able to kick the thing properly.

I could strike the ball better than him at 15.

But it's still an area he needs to improve if he is going to progress. He should score more goals with his all round game.

His ball striking has always been a lot better than Sterling's.

You lose any credibility with a statement like that......

In reality, different players develop at different rates. Take someone like Michael Owen for example - he peaked when he was about 23 years old........ look at someone like Aaron Ramsay - he has only added goals to his game in the last year or so - before that he was a 3 to 7 goals a year man.

If Sterling adds goals to his game, then he could be one of the best players in the league. Same with Coutinho. And that might happen next season....or the season after. Or even the season after that. But at some stage, both players will be 15 league goals a season men.....

Sterling regularly used to score goals from distance in the youth team. He has definitely got a decent long range shot on him, believe it or not.

I think it's a confidence issue too. He's clearly low on confidence right now, nothing he's trying is coming off.

That £100k+ deal he's looking for is looking laughable now to be honest. I wonder who will come in for him in the Summer? Will anyone be willing to pay £40m+ for him? I doubt it.

                  He's this season's Ross Barkley.

I'd like to know why you think that loses credibility before I respond.

There are thousands of non professional kids up and down the country who strike the ball cleaner than sterling does.

Which is not surprising as he is weak in this area.

I would be for selling Sterling to improve the team. Chelsea & Man City would easily give us 50m & if we were guaranteed to get Depay & Vietto/Dybala then it would be a no brainer as Jordan Ibe will just as good as Sterling in a shorter space of time.
Sterling was probably made to look good by Suarez drawing the attention of defenders leaving all that space for him to attack & yet this season, he was found wanting more often than not...probably not fair as he was asked to play in positions alien to him but gotta ask why Rodgers played him in these positions in the first place though!
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

I think peoples judgement of Sterling is becoming clouded by his current contract situation.

Sterling has grown in stature in each of the three seasons he has progressed with us. He looked good with Suarez and Sturridge, but looked equally as good without both of them in the first half of this season. He's our top scorer and one behind Henderson in terms of assists. Why we suddenly think Ibe is a ready made replacement, I don't know. Sure, he has potential, but he's only shown flashes of brilliance in a Liverpool shirt and a year younger (?) than Sterling. One has been out on loan, the other has been proving himself for nearly three years in a Liverpool shirt.

His drop in form coincides with the fall-out from his contract negotiations and being asked to accommodate a number of different positions. Recently, he's lost his head. Whether that's because he's on his way out or because of the flack he's on the receiving end of, we'll surely find out. It has nothing to do with his ability, he has just lost focus.

Why should we want to further improve the Manchester City or Cheksea squads? Sterling clearly has bags of talent and is well on his way to fulfilling his potential. Consistency will come with experience and the lad has over 100 games under his belt already. We have the makings of a world class talent and people are willing to cash in on the hope we can get somebody better or that Ibe realises his potential.

We should be doing whatever we can to keep him at Liverpool (but within reason and not by bowing down to his wage demands) and look to build an attack around Sterling, Coutinho and Markovic.

i think our judgement is being clouded by the fact that he wants £150,000 per week to play for us. fans are rightly making decisions based on that. He has created this situation all by himself.

Well, considering he's categorically refusing to sign at any price until the summer that's somewhat mis-stating it. Based on a rumour which he has publicly debunked.

But carry on, he's a greedy cunt, he's ****, etc etc

If and its a massive if, We invested that 50m well I would imagine our improvement should be a lot more than Chelsea or Citys adding another player to there allready bloated squads.

I imagine the only reason most want to cash in is his stupid wage demands although personally at 50m I would be selling no matter what his wage demands were!!

@Musker_LFC: Man City are interested in Raheem Sterling. Liverpool are desperate to keep Sterling, who would command around £50m for a deal to be done.
