I think the accusations of a lack of game intelligence are misguided. He has looked accomplished in a variety of positions showing an ability to pick up on the tactical side of the game; He's very rarely looked out of place when playing alongside the likes of Gerrard and Suarez and his runs from deep are timed to perfection. It's not like he's perma-offside and having to be guided around the pitch by senior players.
If anything, it's his decision making which lets him down. When to place it, when to leather it; when to take the shot early or when to take one more touch. This is nothing to do with intelligence. With a little more self-belief and game experience, he's going to add goals on a consistent basis to an already well developed game.
We're losing a cracking player that is only going to get better for a different club.

Easy to forget how young he is, he'll certainly get better

On Raheem, I think he could become a top player.
A player who is world class costs £50m. Raheem isn't world class and we are still getting that sort of fee for him. We have definitely done well if we get £50m for him.
As with any sale, what counts is how well you replace them. I don't think we can attract world class players, but he isn't anyway. It's not the same situation as last year when it was impossible to replace Suarez.
I do think we can attract players that are as good as he is at this point in time. In fact, we could get two or three of them for that money. So we are selling a player that may be quality in the future for three that are his equal now. That improves the team so I've no complaints.
I think we have plenty of players with potential, I'm not going to worry about flogging one or listen to nonsense like we are jeopardising our future. All that said I'd also be happy for him to stay if he wanted too and would be committed. But as it stands, I'll be happy to see him go as I think the team can be improved with his departure.Forwards.......

Man city will pay the money we want but I have a feeling that Chelsea are going to be in for him with a late bid.
Sterling is a brilliant player in two thirds of the pitch. When he gets into that final third he doesn't always make the right decision but over time that will be coached out of him and the 50m we get for him could look like pocket change compared to what he could be valued at.

It's the same fee as we sold Torres for, I know prices have increased a bit, but still £50m is a great fee for a player who seems to have his heart set on a move and not long left on his contract.
The problem if course is how we use that money, if last season is anything to go by then that £50m could be pissed up the wall alarmingly quickly...

Frightening that

I agree if we get the 50m then we should accept and its a good fee for a very young player.Originally posted by Pablo View PostIt's the same fee as we sold Torres for, I know prices have increased a bit, but still £50m is a great fee for a player who seems to have his heart set on a move and not long left on his contract.

Except we'll only get £40m to spend as £10m would go to QPROriginally posted by Pablo View PostIt's the same fee as we sold Torres for, I know prices have increased a bit, but still £50m is a great fee for a player who seems to have his heart set on a move and not long left on his contract.
