Obviously try to get the fee up, but £50m is a good price given the circumstances. whatever we get is going to be less as we let his contract run down.

It will be interesting to see if someone else bids, there were rumours about him wanting a move to London so I wonder if one of the London clubs will also bid.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

£50m would be an amazing price for him given that he is mostly potential at this stage of his career. For £50m you would expect to be getting the finished article, but if Sterling goes for that he will still be a player with very much a hell of a lot to prove in terms of how good he may or may not turn out to be.

Everyone talks about keeping pressure off young players so they can develop. Sterling's just gone and put about £50m worth of pressure on himself to be worth that every game now. Well done son, well done.

Hop£ it all work$ out for you.

I think he will develop into a £50m+ player. He has the attributes and he's still got three or four years before he'll reach his peak. He will mature and his attitude will improve. Whoever spunks £50m on this kid is going to get a very very good player for now and for the future. I'm disappointed that he's going.

I think for City, they might as well pay the extra now if they're willing to pay the £40m. I kind of wish we would have done the same in previous transfers to get our number one targets instead of settling for alternatives as it would pay dividends in the long term (CL money blah blah blah..)

I personally believe he's worth £35m but we should also be compensated as we're not looking to sell.

                £50m is pretty good though

If we can find a way to keep him we should, all well and good having the money in the bank but we've got to use it properly which is easier said than done.

£50m for a player who has made it clear that he's desperate to leave and has turned the club into a media circus once again is a decent figure.

He'll prove his worth at City though.

It's a decent value no doubt but using that money wisely will be the problem

To be fair there are many good players we could buy that would come. It's just a shame out scouts seem to pick players no one on here or anywhere would list as targets.

                          Indeed.

He's not going to be anything more than average if he stays next season, which will affect his value. He's possibly going to be fantastic, but £50m now is the best Liverpool can hope for. Let's just hope the club doesn't squander the money. Heung Son Min would be decent

He'll probably develop into a great player, but a 50m+ player? They're few and far between. Chances are slim.

I think 50m is the tipping point where it's worth accepting. Especially if he doesn't want to be here.

I don't hold any bitterness towards him and I do want him here, but at that price I'm convinced.

I agree with you 100% here. The money is fantastic for a player who could well end up being Jermaine Pennant, rather than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The stories surrounding him (granted they may be exaggeration or made up) suggest he might have his head easily turned. Put it this way, you never used to hear CR7 knocking girls up at 18 or doing gas for laughs.
