Agreed, my preferred team for start of next season would be with him in it:Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostI think Sterling does have game intelligence. He'll be brilliant without the pressure of expectation every single match. He'll mature and get more comfortable with that and then we'll cry.
Mig
Clyne Skrte Sakho Moreno
Hendo Milner
Lallana Coutinho Sterling
Ings
With both fullbacks in attack mode (as Milner/Hendo will cover) and Lallana finding 'pockets' of space created by Sterling and Ings while Coutinho drops deeper to receive the ball.
Problem is no goals. We'd run teams ragged but then lose 1-0 or 2-1 or draw at best. Really need a Jackson Martinez or Lacazette with Sterling's money. One tit for another.

That's what I'd rather we do.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostWould we not be better keeping him for 2 seasons on his current wage and getting a tribunal pay out?
£30m after QPR's cut, we'd get 2 seasons out of him and probably close to that in settlement I'd imagine.
The way Sterling (and particularly his agent) has gone about things isn't great, but he's still one of our better players with huge potential and I'm not confident of us spending any money that we receive for him wisely.
I'm shocked at how many people here want him gone. You only have to look at the clubs that he's been linked with to see how highly he's rated.

Or alternatively he could end up like SWPOriginally posted by foresterbloke View PostI think Sterling does have game intelligence. maybe but it's the normal person intelligence he lacks.......if all else fails he might end up back at QprOriginally posted by foresterbloke View PostI think Sterling does have game intelligence. I don't think the tribunal would go near £30m to be honest, didn't someone say that the record was for Sturridge (Man City to Chelsea) at just under £7m? As times have changed we might get around 15-20m top I would say.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostWould we not be better keeping him for 2 seasons on his current wage and getting a tribunal pay out?

The other issue is his form, is he going to bust his guts to show what he can do to get the move he wants or will he just sulk? Based on his performances since all this kicked off is it even worth trying to keep him for two years? The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I still wouldn't sell him this summer.
I'd tell Sterling to knuckle down for 1 year, play well, impress at the Euro's then with 1 year left a price of circa £15m brings Madrid, Bayern etc.. etc... into the bidding for him.
The only person benefitting by Sterling going this summer is Ady Ward. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

That was for a relatively unknown Sturridge quite a few years ago.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI don't think the tribunal would go near £30m to be honest, didn't someone say that the record was for Sturridge (Man City to Chelsea) at just under £7m? Sterling even now is relied up heavily by club and country, you'd imagine even more so in 2 years time, he'd be one of a kind in terms of the tribunal hearing.
I'd be shocked if we didn't get a minimum of £20m at a tribunal. If the option was £30m now or £20m at tribunal in 2 years time then for me I'd keep him here.Vive la France

Sterling said it was about his career, not about money.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostYeah like Sterling seems that type of person. Driven by targets and the need to do better. He was allowed to go on a mid season break cos he was tired for God's sake!
I'd turn it back on him and say surely Madrid, Bayern etc.. gives you a better chance of the career you want.
Give us 1 year and you can have that career.
With Chelsea being dominant, Arsenal financially strong and Utd coming back City could well be the vulnerable team in the top 4.
They've certainly got the biggest rebuilding to do with Yaya and Kompany being nowhere near the players of 2-3 years ago.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
