If so, then that is the best case scenario for me!
I think you're taking it a little far.

Contractually its not as cut and dried as it use to be, where you could actually do this without it being a problemIt's the manager's prerogative.Originally posted by Gibbo View PostHow it it different Lec? Surely if he's under contract we decide what to do with him?
As long as Sterling is training with the first team squad and treated the same as every other player (in terms of training times, locations, days off etc...) then Sterling doesn't have a leg to stand on it he's not picked by Rodgers.
The problem comes if Sterling is continually asked to train on his own, at unsociable times, 7 days a week etc...The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Surely we can make it a condition of any deal that he puts in a transfer request?
Just make it clear that we won't consider any offers until he puts in a transfer request.

**** that! I hope the little cunt tears both ACL's the moment he steps onto a pitch for whoever gets burdened with him, and loses all his pace as a result, showing how limited he is as a footballer. Then as he's making his comeback and comes up against us Skrtl snaps his legs with a superbly timed late tackle.

If I was the manager id be absolutely flogging the **** out of him during pre season. Run him into the ground.

We get it. Some people want him injured, which is a tad crass but each to their own.
Unless the transfer fee we want to get is received by fax soon, he should be dragged on to that plane and played like any other pre-season. He's a very important player and whilst I want him to stay, it looks like he's burning bridges.
I've caught up with three pages and agree with those stating he should put in a transfer request. I also disagree with those saying it makes Liverpool look bad; Our refusal to speak publicly on the press is great to see and it's almost forcing Sterling to go public and make an arse of himself.
Sit tight, treat him as any other player as it stands.

Cant wait till the little ****ehawk ****s offHonestly I don't buy in the slightest that this is about Rodgers. There are many things we can criticise the manager for, but the way he has handled Sterling's career over the last 3 years has been the model of how to bring a talented young player through, playing him plenty but protecting him by pulling him out of the limelight when his form dipped, allowing him breaks mid season, defending him to the hilt when the whole "tired" thing happened for England etc. Sterling & his agent had obviously decided what they wanted to do with this contract renewal well before his relationship with Rodgers appeared to sour in public, and I do ask how on earth any manager was supposed to handle the whole saga without the relationship deteriorating?Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostThis isn't me having a dig at Rodgers but I do believe what sky said about Sterling wanting to leave because of Rodgers. I think the bbc alluded to this a couple of months when they said Sterling would stay if Rodgers left. There relationship seems to have been badly damaged and I don't see how this can be repaired.
I don't believe even slightly that had we changed manager Sterling would have signed a new contract by now, not even a tiny bit; what was his agent insulting club legends and saying he wouldn't sign for a million a week all about if the issue was with Rodgers personally? Nah, quite conceivable that they aren't getting on any more but logically I see that issue coming after he had decided to force a move, not before.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

The only thing that can be levelled at Rodgers by Sterling is playing him out of position when we played him wing back.....The audacity of the manager to dare play Sterling out of position has obviously affected him deeply._____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?

Yeah the whole wanting a player injured is a bit much. He has came across in a very bad light and has been trying to orchestrate a move for months now. Talented guy, but has shown to have a bad attitude on the pitch in the second half of the season IMO when he went missing for months & making all the wrong moves off the pitch in a bid to get his move.
I just want him gone to be honest. We'll hang for big money and we'll get it. We'll either reinvest or the Sterling money to cover the other transfers we've brought in, hopefully the former. Whatever happens, we need to focus on the players that want to be here & remove the negative atmosphere of those who do not want to be here.
Pre season IMO for us this season is absolutely vital. Personally I would like to find our best team as early as possible. Don't want to see outgoing/unwanted players being put in shop window during the pre season. I would rather see us use the time to find our best 11 and get some continuity into the side, so we are ready for this poxy start to our season.

I'm no fan of Rodgers but I agree with this, he's just trying to weasel out of the club and is using every trick in the book, although he's probably in the last few chapters by now. I can't see how Rodgers could have alienated him so much.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostHonestly I don't buy in the slightest that this is about Rodgers.
