About these loyalty payments, isn't there any way around that? Accept a deal from City but refuse to pay Sterling on the grounds that he has said that he doesn't want to play for the club or the manager, surely if there is a loyaty clause somewhere then it can be challenged, and TBH those clauses need to be tested.

Aren't they already?Originally posted by Lecter View PostOf course but I think desperation has set in for them
We seem to be acting very calm almost to the point of ignoring them
I think they will panic soon, they dont have many other options
They can only cry wolf so many times to the media before uninterest in their situation develops* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Just put him in the reserves. If someone offers 50mill then good. If not he can enjoy himself there. Keeps him away from the first team, ****s with his publicity, and if he doesnt come to play he can be fined nice and easily. Wait till contract runs out. Make it happen. I also want a DVD released of his slow mental breakdown during that period.

Yep it looks to me like they're trying to force our hand, whilst we are just staying calm about the whole thing, pretty pleased with how the club is handling this to be honest.
I think for £50m Id be happy to let him go, it's a huge amount of money even if we do owe QPR some of it, will be the biggest English transfer ever won't it? So if you're looking around about that amount Id be happy for him to leave, as even though I rate him I don't think he'll ever be a £50m player.
The only other thing for me is I don't want us to be held to ransom by clubs when we spend the money, similar to Spurs and Bale, you just know we will end up paying full wack for Benteke. The times they are a changin'.

Think you have to be careful with things like this nowOriginally posted by vlahka View PostJust put him in the reserves. If someone offers 50mill then good. If not he can enjoy himself there. Contractually its not as cut and dried as it use to be, where you could actually do this without it being a problemBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Don't really want him around Ibe and the other young players either, hopefully City will up their offer and we can sod him off.Originally posted by Lecter View PostThink you have to be careful with things like this now

Not quite as simple as that anymoreOriginally posted by Gibbo View PostHow it it different Lec? Surely if he's under contract we decide what to do with him?
You could maybe get away with it for a week or more but then beyond that you could open yourself up for contractual breaches. I am not sure I would risk any potential contractual disputes / give them an excuse
I dont see the need to stoke the fire any further. Sterling and his agent are already chucking petrol on it
I think we are actually playing a blinder on this at the minuteBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

What if we leave him on the bench then, similar to Balotelli.
Any argument there? The times they are a changin'.

Looks like Aidy has had a chat with sky.
Sky sources understand Sterling indicated it would be in everyone's best interests if he did not join that tour.
His fear is that his presence on the tour would take the focus off the manager and the new players, believing that it would be better if he stayed at Melwood and continues to train.
.......
Bless. He's just looking out for his teammates!
