Sterling has been badly advised and his form his dropped right off but he's a talented player and if we can get him to agree to a decent contract we should sign him up.
Fwiw he was also a bright spot last season when we had one of the worlds best players tearing the league up, he's young and had a dip in form for a number of reasons but he's a good young player with a lot of potential.

As much as we all dislike aidy ward, he's only doing his job in terms of getting his client (and him) the best financial deal on the market. Would a big move benefit sterlings playtime probably not but its hard to ignore that sort of money.Originally posted by RichC View PostHe should but that's not the way the world works.
I imagine he'll have a contract in place with the agent which you won't just be able to walk away from and it also would take him wanting to, remember this guy spends his days blowing smoke up his arse.
being a big money signing at his age cant be good for his development. expectations are raised through the roof like with us and markovic. We only spent 20m on markovic, imagine if sterling goes to city and has the season markovic had for us. someone would get the boot for it.

I can see no valid arguement as to how Raheem Sterling could currently be regarded as being seen as being on that level. He is in the early stages of a career that may see him become a top level player or that might see him become nothing of the sort.
For me he is a young player who looks to have the potential to have a very high ceiling. He is also a young player who has had as many poor games as he has had good ones to date and at this stage of his career tends to flit between being excellent or poor with no great amount of middle ground.
He needs time to develop. He needs to quality around him because he is not yet good enough to be the top quality on a regular basis for others and he needs to be the one to want to give himself time to develop into a proper top player.
If he thinks he is already a top player and one of the best players in the league and that he deserves the wage of one of the very best, then good luck to him if he can find a club that will buy into that and spend what it takes to get him. But I think that route may see him getting more bench time than he would like. Better players than what he currently is have made mega money moves and seen it end in tears.
But if he wants to stay at Liverpool, accept the reported offer of £100k a week (which would make him the highest paid 20 year old footballer in the world if I am not mistaken) and look to use the game time he is certain to get in order to grow as a player, then I think he has a chance of actually becoming the player that he seems to think he already is.

I agree completely...... at the moment, he is very good. He has the natural talent to become a class act. But he could possibly (we don't know 100% for sure yet) have the attitude of a clown - one of these ****in wide-boys with his gangsta rappa ****e (a bit like sturridge). He probably has had smoke blown all the way up his arse since he was about 10 years old that he believes that he is the best in the business.......... he could be another David Bentley for all we know at the moment. And he is a hammy or cruciate injury away from being a write off anyway.
If he has some clarity, signs the contract, get his head down and focus on football - then he will have a much better career and a much better life in the long run. And I will be cheering him on from the sidelines. And if he genuinely reaches the Suarez heights, and LFC can't match his talent and ambition, then i will clap him off to Barca or Madrid in 4 years or so.....
But if he sticks it out with his crappie attitude, then i hope the club get the right money for him (or let him rot in the reserves) and replace him with someone with the right attitude. And I will be hoping that a flanagan or a Sakho breaks him when he is next at anfield!!!

Best get Flanno to drop his wage demands then eh.
For me Sterling is not much different to any of our young players, just that he's become very high profile, so a lot of **** is spoken about him more often.
Truth is we have no idea about his attitude, except to say that BR seems to have no issues with it bar one interview, he's a very young man trying to map the next few years of his career is all, to the best of his benefit, just as we all do.
Agree he's probably having smoke blown into various orifices via mates, agents and pundits, but that's no different to any young player who's perforemed to a higher level than other players at the same age.Last edited by Vermilion; 15-05-15, 06:10 PM.

What has that to do with anything ? Bloke was asked a question, and gave an answer.Originally posted by rodo View Post15 appearances
Seems to be a theme at the moment on here, all since his interview, it's like the interview has addled peoples opinion of Sterling, and he's now ordinary....where before he was our future.

If he stays he still is our future. I think the main problem is he's not had a top striker to link play with, makes everyone in the team look worse. But if he was a top level player, he'd produce on his own and find a way like a gerrard did all those years.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostWhat has that to do with anything ? I still believe that he will sign a new contract with us. He is a very good player for his age and his inconsistencies will be ironed out in time. Sterling still has a lot of development ahead of him, he has the attributes to be a top player by the time he reaches 24/25. With regard to his attitude I think he seems quite level headed and humble considering where he's at. I like him and just want him to focus on the football, sign a new contract and become a superstar for us.
