I still believe that he will sign a new contract with us. He is a very good player for his age and his inconsistencies will be ironed out in time. Sterling still has a lot of development ahead of him, he has the attributes to be a top player by the time he reaches 24/25. With regard to his attitude I think he seems quite level headed and humble considering where he's at. I like him and just want him to focus on the football, sign a new contract and become a superstar for us.

What sort of top player do people think he will be?

I can't see him ever being anything other than a pacy dribbler doing what he does already.

Do people think he's going to become a striker? Or a neymar, messi, hazard? I seriously doubt it.

For me he's missing fundamentals that would allow him to get to the top level. I'm interested to hear what attributes you think he has that would enable such elevation?

At this stage, its vital we get the maximum return on this lad this summer, but suitors might have a reality check, and not land us with the windfall that this side badly......badly, needs.

Surprising and so infuriating. Wonder if he stays for extra shooting practice.

Personally, I would sell him in a flash if anyone offered anything near 30m but no chance of that.

His head's gone, needs to sort himself out.

He's still a kid, still fantastic potential......but he's gone at the moment. Woeful.

That said he gets fearful stick from the crowd...and it doesn't help.

Ibe was poor as well today, in fact both our lads got shown up by their counterparts Zahaand particularly Bolasie. Play without fear and express your skills, that's the key for me.

Look how long it took Cout to learn to shoot, even with his sublime skills. Sterling will improve, of that i have no doubt.

I'm really surprised people are using Coutinho's shooting in this debate.

Coutinho hasn't just learnt how to shoot. His technique hasn't changed.. He's just more assertive/confident.

Sterling would have to change core things to be able to improve his shooting. Core things like balance, weight transfer etc.

Core things ingrained in his technique.

He's been playing daily for **** know how many years and I would suggest those things can't be changed.

For me he's very close to his development ceiling already.

And btw I would keep him if we could. He is still a good player (played in the right role) with right players around him.

But he is not and never will be world class. Far too one dimensional for that.
