I agree with the last few posts saying how Torres has lost confidence not pace (or acceleration). I say this from the same position of ignorance as those who say that his pace is gone. I honestly don't think that he looks like a kicked dog more than ****e footballer.

It is a mental psychological thing with Torres being the reason he is disinterested, for all we know it could have been the same feelings and problems in his head that made him want to move in the first place. It's not like he's aged 10 years in the space of a year and lost all his pace, think about it guys.

People are still bitter and rightly so and in their heads they want him to fail and saying he's finished and all that but he isn't. To say he is finished as a player at the age of 27 is total bollocks. Feel free to quote me if in 1 or 2years time if he is still playing as poor as he has been but I doubt very much he will be.

IF he came back to us then Dalglish would sort him out I am absoloutely certain of that. He thrived off the adoration of the fans and he doesn't get that at Chelsea.

We as fans need to get into the minds of players and try imagine what it is like for them.
You make some good points. My feeling about Torres is that his heart isn't really in football anymore. He's had too many bad experiences over the last 2 years - Hicks and Gillett, Bodgson, insulting LFC and then getting his supposed dream move to the Chavs which has quickly become a nightmare. All this has left him psychologically jaded and tainted.

He will never, ever be the player he once was. We should all forget about him and move on.

Yep, he was incredible and now he's not, the fact people are talking about him being available despite a club signing him for £50m in this calendar year should be enough of a warning sign!

Lets go and get the next incredible footballer like he was and Suarez was, not try and mend old ones.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Roman throw some more money at the problem in January...
Spanish correspondant/based english journo, Graham Hunter, said today, that the reason Torres was soooo good at Liverpool, was because Rafa 'micro managed' him.

Telling him exactly how to play against certain sides, how to better certain defenders, where to make runs and find space, etc etc, preparing him meticilously from game to game one on one.

According to him, Torres was the kind of player that responded well to that approach too.

I think you're right there fella regarding all the bad experiences he's had over the last few years. Things like that are going to mess you up, as mad as it sounds.

I think the reception he got from the away fans on his debut against us at Stamford Bridge where Agger smashed him off the ball have seriously ****ed him up. That night he knew he'd angered us because we had taken him as our own, we adored him and that night he knew we were hurt. This to me shows that he isn't a cunt, that night he clearly knew he'd ****ed up and that he has feelings just like everyone one of us.

I don't agree that he will never be the player he once was though. He still has it in him to be the player he once was, maybe not better than he was for us but still extremley talented.

I think we need to think what him and Suarez would be like and what he was like with Gerrard, those two were on another planet.

That comment by BBB was definitely OTT and uncalled for.

What he has lost is acceleration! Like Henry he was able to go from standing still to his top speed faster than anyone else. It was the initial burst of acceleration which took him past defenders and he was away before they could react.

That has clearly gone and he is struggling to adapt his game.

He is now the type of player that is worth a punt at £10m but no more. And they would never sell for that.
No he's not. He has lost the step (not having confidence either certainly plays the role) but as John Doe said even at 50% of his former form imo he and Suarez would rule the league.

I was so upset and bitter when he left as he was my favorite player but there is no denying that Torres in first 2 seasons with us was a special player to say at least.

Did your devil's advocate skip maths classes? Last time i checked, 9 goals was still far better than 3. And for a player new to the league, and who isnt an out and out striker, 9 in 28 isnt bad at all.

And why only count league goals? Does it suit the devil's advocate agenda more?

If Torres were to come back and partner Suarez they would tear the league a new arse.

Under the right nurture and setup he'd find his form in no time at all, he's a natural and that kind of ability will always re-surface in the correct conditions.

Thing is, we'll never see it...

Cue another 1000 pages debating this.
                      Oh I don't know.

For the price, I would rather have Villa.

But, I would take Torres back in a heartbeat, he was amazing, absolutely amazing. I just wish he would have given the new owners and Kenny six months too prove to him that we are moving forward. I will always see him as one of my favourite ever LFC players.

                            I want him home.

                            Malaga bound though, IMO
