also remember the wages as part of that deal.

thats where it will break down. its a lot of wages that could be spent elsewhere.

Ian Rush had a very indifferent spell with Juventus but managed to come back and be successful. Never say never even though I feel Torres returning is extremely unlikely, and not just for footballing reasons. I expect him to return home to Spain, 6 years abroad is a decent chunk of time and he has probably had enough of blighty now.

he won a CL mdeal so looks like it wasnt that bad a choice for him either.

the only reason i dont want him back as he is a shadow of his former self. he is not the same player and not worth the wages we would have to pay.

would i want the torres at his peak back - **** yes but thats not what is on offer.

Unlike some people I have to say that I think that his decision to leave was partly understandable. Football is a job, and players get paid (admittedly a huge amount) to turn up and play. Loyalty to a club is a rare commodity these days.

Looked at in isolation, he put up with the turmoil of the H&G era, saw some of the team's best players sold, saw the team fail to kick on from their best finish in years and instead go backwards, and saw Rafa replaced by the Bodge (God only knows how awful it must have felt to play under him) and then by Dalglish, who we all viewed through rose tinted spectacles, but in hindsight wasn't up to the job (and who knows how he related to Torres when he came in). He isn't a Liverpool fan, isn't Liverpudlian or even English, so why should he be expected to show loyalty regardless of circumstance? Remember, Gerrard came within hours of leaving, and he's a Scouser and a fan, so why should we expect unflinching loyalty from anyone these days?

I'd take him back if the deal was right.

Although I have a reported soft spot for Torres, I believe it wouldn't be that beneficial to have him back, simply as I believe Rafa got the absolute best out of him and he was the main reason Torres became as good as he was.

The way the cookie crumbles, eh...

I think that the 'more goals for Liverpool in 2011 than for Chelsea' stat indicates that he wasn't past his peak, he just made a bad choice and joined a team that didn't remotely suit his style. He scored 4 for us in January 2011, and seemed to be recovering after several months of niggling injuries. Admittedly he wasn't at the level of his second season with us, but he was still pretty damn good.

i dont think that indicates that at all.

he wasnt at the level of his second season with us. that to me indicates he was past his peak. I thought it at the time and i thought £50m was brilliant business. unfortunately apart from Luis we wasted that money.

He may well have scored more goals had he stayed with us than he has at chelsea but i doubt he would have been anywhere near as good as he was at his peak.

Rubbish from the ****** tonight.........touched the ball a couple times, sort of won a corner.
Exactly what you want for 50m.

                              Nothing wrong with that.
