I think the question to a degree is whether the three in midfield either a) offer enough in terms of scoring themselves and b) create the type of chances our forward line. I feel that none of our options, Milner included, are really goal scorers/finishers with the possible exception of Coutinho. I think we will need Milner in the midfield rotation - may allow us to press more as well if we can keep players fitter.

With the 3 being relatively undynamic they provide our opponents with a spare man. They can afford to let us dominate midfield knowing that midfield causes no threatOriginally posted by dww View PostI think the question to a degree is whether the three in midfield either a) offer enough in terms of scoring themselves and b) create the type of chances our forward line. It's their role to keep their discipline and maybe that kind of feel they are not very dynamic. It's important that they are tactically aware so I think it's a symptom of that. As someone pointed out previously, our midfield three is very rarely overrun and I don't think it's because team let us, it's because we are getting better at controlling games.Originally posted by Norbs View PostWith the 3 being relatively undynamic they provide our opponents with a spare man. It'd be interesting to see the stats on how much ground they cover in comparison to the rest of the team. Could it be that two sitting players could do an equally effective job as that would free up a position elsewhere, perhaps a wide player. We're often too narrow after allOriginally posted by Fredo View PostIt's their role to keep their discipline and maybe that kind of feel they are not very dynamic.
