I'm still unconvinced that Henderson is captain material. No other outstanding candidates though admittedly.

I've mentioned Kolo for captain a couple of timesOriginally posted by meffin View PostThere isn't 1 player in the squad i'd want as captain. Kolo seems like the best shout at the mo

If he was a few years younger it would be a no brainer. In terms of personality and influence he's the easy choice.
Obviously it's a non-starter going forward though, but that's the type of character we need as captain IMO.

He's not really a regular starter, and that is a problem with a lot of the other candidates.Originally posted by Pablo View PostI've mentioned Kolo for captain a couple of times

Johnson - not playing regularly and will probably be leaving in summer
Toure - not a regular starter
Sakho - not been a regular starter until recently
Lovren - not in the side at present, may have been an option if he was the organiser we thought we were signing
Lucas - should be a regular but isn't, Rodgers doesn't seem his biggest fan
Skrtel - not sure he is captain material
Lallana - only just settling into the side
Henderson - regular in the side and has been for a few seasons
Looking through the potential candidates Henderson almost gets it by default, I think he has the potential to be a good captain but I think it would have been better if the opportunity had come in a year or two's time. As Lee mentioned we have lost a lot of leaders over the last few years. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

A while back there were a fair few contenders for the captaincy - Carragher, Suarez, Agger, Lucas - Henderson seems to be a bit "in the absence of anyone else..." I like him as a vice captain, but he still feels too junior to get it now, especially when the manager seems intent on devaluing him by shunting him around like some kind of jack of all trades.

Absolutely categorically agree with the "in the absence of anyone else...." reasoning
There isn't anyone in the squad that I would automatically look to for the next captain
Lallana? Sakho? Both feel like they could be captains, but neither have played often enough to show either wayI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

i thought when the vice captaincy was up for grabs that lovren might have got it over henderson.
maybe if lovrens balls grow back then he might get the nod for next year.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Good shout
Only potential issue is that he is absolutely ****, and god help the rest of the team if they are looking at this hapless moron for inspirationI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Gerrard got the same treatment through his career, i think its more of a good thing when you have a player of such high quality that he can sit in different positions and do a better then good job there as well.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostA while back there were a fair few contenders for the captaincy - Carragher, Suarez, Agger, Lucas - Henderson seems to be a bit "in the absence of anyone else..." Henderson is capable but he still needs to do more for me, his performance levels have regressed since last season although that's certainly not just down to him.
