    Two assists tonight?

He's so good. It's been so gratifying to see his development from a meek and timid kind of guy to this almost monstrous and dominant leader that he's become.

He's probably the first name on the teamsheet with Virgil out. Him and Gini have 2 positions nailed down, and Thiago is world class and if we're playing a CL final and he's fit, he plays. Where that leaves Fabinho, I don't know, cos he's a nailed on starter too. Maybe we'll have to keep playing him at CB.

This is a mental thing to say but I'm going to say it - I think he's an even better captain than Gerrard was. I really do. Not a better player., obviously, but there's something about his captaincy that has a laser-guided focus, measure, discipline and selflessness that I think makes him a better captain than SG. It's a pointless and futile conversation, but whatever, it's what I think.

He is, by quite a bit, a better captain than Gerrard. Much more controlled character and a better leader.
          Are we winning?

I think it’s an impossible thing for us fans to measure, as so much of it is out of sight from us. In the dressing room, on the team bus, in the canteen, the hotel, etc.

But yeah, something about their respective personalities and what we hear about the team spirit makes me think that Hendo is a much more all round inclusive and natural captain than Gerrard was.

I know what you mean I think he is a more natural leader than Gerrard. Gerrard is great as someone who leads by example but he almost wanted to do everything himself and to be fair to him he had the ability to do it alot. Henderson recognises that there are a players who are better at certain things than him and is willing to delegate responsibilities to them and is more disciplined and willing to sacrifice his personal desires for the team in a way that I don't think Gerrard could and because of that he raises the level of the whole team.

(I don't mean any of this to sound like an attack on Gerrard by the way )
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yep, it's not an attack on Gerrard at all. Henderson is something else though. An incredible leader.

                  Definitely.

Hendo is sooo aware of the team, of what bits are working and which areas need help. When you see him on the pitch at the game he is all over it. Every single player. Barking orders and organising, I don’t think Stevie had that. When I was there he absolutely roasted Trent for a pass that was about 50cm behind him that caused him to check his run and cost momentum on a move.

He sacrifices himself for the team in a not always glamorous way. How can we let out full backs bomb on like wingers? Because a guy like Hendo is disciplined enough to cover them. He 100% understands the way we play and where everyone should be. Tactically he is one of the best captains I’ve ever seen.

Gerrard the player was a phenomenon. I’d have loved to see Stevie in our team now, with Hendo as his captain.

And Hendo is also criminally under rated as a player.

Gerrard is like the person that gets promoted to manager because he sold loads of stuff as opposed to the person that sells a bit of stuff but also knows how to deal with customers, handle complaints and knows how the store runs.

Henderson is a complete footballer and captain. He deserves to be on the front of FIFA again.

Difficult to compare tasks at hand but Henderson is obviously a great captain of this group.

I think times being good and winning the title/European Cup has helped him, having Klopp as as manager, Lallana backing him up and the 'leadership group' of VVD/Gini/Milner are all factors to making his job easier. You wonder how he would handle some of pressures Gerrard faced at low points.

He also doesn't have to send drunk texts to Toni Kroos at 3 am asking if he's up.

Exudes so much confidence when he's on the pitch, the whole team feeds off of it. Doesn't provide some stellar passes nowadays too since he took the crab comments personally.
