I thought it was very Robben-esque.

I'll say it again, but I have always liked Henderson. It's been obvious to me that there's a very good player there. I think he'll end up as a bit of a jack of all midfield trades, but that is no bad thing. We need versatility.
      Oh I don't know.

To think we nearly part-exed him for Clint f'n Dempsey!

Aye, hes been pretty versatile for us. I think he will be with us for a few years to come too. Seems like he is happy and settled here.

Now, we just need him to push on and dominate games the same way Stevie does. Perfect replacement for when he retires I think.

Always was a big fan of Henderson, he always had great technique and very skilled at the basics which is what you need to be as a footballer, its so easy to forget how important they can be.

A reminder of it for me during the game was when the ball was knocked towards him from Toure I think it was in defence while he was facing his own goal and he didnt have enough time to turn and obviously hadnt had a call so instinctively knocked it straight back over the defenders to the keeper who had time. Very Gerrard-esque.

He is turning into an excellent player and his shooting and especially finishing has improved dramatically from the end of last season.

He seems to love being here and is so passionate on the pitch as you can see when he scores. I hope he is here for a long time to come.

The celebration was what Ronaldo (the real one) used to do. Wagging his finger. Brilliant

It immediately made me think of this:

Not sure why, as the two goals aren't that similar, it was more just the energy and style that he showed.

                        I was there.

I always mention that when I can. I don't know why. It's Pavlovian.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Strangely it reminded me of that goal too.

thanks for the video again Mostar

something i have noticed about henderson.
i watch him play and something bothers me, i have watched that video and it suddenly fell into place.

when the ball is played into him he very rarely seems to run with the ball. he seems to turn and pass to a team mate quite quickly. this might be considered a good thing, but often he isnt being pressured, and could easily carry the ball another 5-10 yards, and draw a midfielder or defender towards him and allow a team mate to make a run into space.
he often passes quickly to a team mate, and then runs on, often with no thought as to whether or not the team mate is under pressure or able to make a return pass.

of course, there are exceptions. his movement for his goal was good, and he did put in some tackles which is good to see he is building other parts of his game.

i dont say the above to slag him off, more as an observation.
his running around taking and giving the ball, etc, looks very 'industrious' but close scrutiny seems to reveal its often a little 'headless chicken'
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
