What I like about Henderson is that he has good basic skills, he's a good athlete and he seems to be a sensible lad. What I don't like is that he doesn't have a proper role in the team.
I'd like to see him fill out a bit and be drilled on basically the role that Mascherano used to do. Not so much shielding the defence but read play and when we lose possession nip counter-attacks in the bud and win the ball back for us. His tackling needs work but he has all the other attributes already.Never knowingly optimistic

i had an arguement when henderson first joined with my mates dad, cause henderson had been stinking and I called him a **** house when he got subbed off

but fair play he has dug deep, worked hard and improved.
Last night i had an argument with my flat mate, who slagged henderson off and stated he won't be here next season.
ridiculous statement imo - for me the only issue now with henderson is the price we paid - which is still a ridiculous fee, what was it £19m?
that said though if he was £10m or foreign he'd be raved about or had signed for united instead we'd all be a bit pissed we didn't get him.
yes he's got plenty to work on and improve but he comes across as a model pro, he works hard and he should have a good long career here.
I do agree Bryncoch, not quite sure what his role is yet but as i've mentioned he'll have an important part to play when we need a bit of engine in the middle as we havent really got anyone other than him in the midfield options that is capable of running box to box for 90 mins.
if we sign this Willian - i see henderson role becoming understood to gerrard and being used to prolong gerrard's career a bit by coming on/rotating with him
something like this
------Lucas/Allen-----Gerrard/Henderson---
------------coutinho/alberto--------
personally i do feel it's still a bit lightweight and that we need a 'beast' option in the squad, but without european football, then what we have is hopefully enough providing we can have a bit of luck with injuries/suspensions to lucas/gerrard - if those two start the majority of our league games we should be oki own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I have defended him more than most (check my posting history
) but still believe he has a bit to do. Still, he is going in the right direction.

Oddly I was thinking about a related thing earlier. For me the best analogy for someone like Henderson is Ivanovic at Chelsea. He came for a big fee and everyone laughed as he struggled to get a game and he looked at best a utility player. Now despite the last part still being true he has developed a lot and is almost always part of Chelsea's best team.
I think as Gerrard ages there will be more chances for Henderson to develop in the same way. I generally think people tend to write players off much too young. Lots of players take until 23/24 to really find themselves at the top level."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Was Joe Allen's price not excessive? He cost more than Henderson...Originally posted by PTP View Poststill seems excessive and is down to the english premium.
but if he stays here and plays to a good standard into his 30's then it'll prove good businessThanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!
