In the league, Henderson and Di Maria both have 6 assists, but Henderson has played almost double the minutes (1546 v 863). Lallana has 4 to Di Maria's 3 strikes and has only played a few minutes more.

Ridiculous point from whoever on twitter of course as Di Maria flagrantly has better stats than either of them individually, far more assists than Lallana and output per minute easily beats Hendo.

I actually read it wrong first time, I thought he said Henderson has more assists that DiM and and Lallana and also more goals that DiM.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Given where they both play usually it's shows that even though he hasn't been great this season he's still making a vital contribution.

As things stand, Jordan Henderson will be the new Liverpool captain next season. What do you lot think?

Well if Gerrard leaves and Rodgers is still here I would assume that will be the case. I don't have a problem with it, at the start of the season I had assumed Gerrard would have been here a bit longer so it wouldn't have come quite so soon, I don't really think of Henderson as one of our 'senior players' because we have recently had the likes of Gerrard, Carragher and Hyypia who seemed to be around forever, But I guess he will be one of our longest serving players (after Lucas, Skrtel and Johnson etc).
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he's an ideal vice-captain - not sure he's ready to be captain.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

If you don't have him who else in the current squad would be more suitable?

Johnson, Skrtel and Lucas are the longest serving players.

Toure, Sakho, Allen and Lallana have done it at other clubs.

But I don't think I would have any of those ahead of Henderson. It will be a big step up, but I think he can do it.

Fact, Gerards presence in midfield is detrimental to LFC cause and BR needs to wake up and smell the coffee..... It's patently obvious to everyone else.

I'm comfortable with that. Henderson alongside Can providing youth, strength and mobility

Whilst I'm sure Henderson has learnt a lot from playing alongside Gerrard, Stevie retiring could be the best thing for Henderson right now. He looks capable of stepping up. Nobody can replace Gerrard, but Henderson has the attributes to be a good captain I think. Gerrard wasn't always the most vocal, but he led by example. Henderson always gives 100% and there is nobody else in the squad I'd hand the responsibility to. I always felt that Henderson would become a massive player for us, now here's his chance.

Think I agree with this. Perhaps Henderson needs another season as vice-captain first. Dunno.

I also wonder if Lovren was originally earmarked as a future captain when we signed him in the summer.

The amount of leaders we've lost over the last three summers is pretty high - Bellamy, Kuyt, Maxi, Carragher, Reina, Agger, Suarez and now Gerrard. We have nobody left in our squad of their ilk now.

Would have to be Lallana for me.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
