As a couple of people have said being the captain doesn't seem to be as much of a big thing in German football as it does in England, hopefully Klopp can bring that type of mentality into the club if he hasn't already - we had 10 different players captain the side last season.

Ok we have had only one club captain, but we have replaced one club captain with another - Sami Hyypia was 'stripped' of the captaincy in order to make Gerrard captain and that didn't cause any problems the players involved just need to be mature about it.

Really all depends on Henderson's mentality and how he takes it. I'm not too convinced Jordan is the type of player that would push on from something like that.

Should have never been charged with the captaincy in the first place.

Henderson was clearly given instructions to take the penalty before the game but deferred to the clearly better penalty taker. He did what was best for the team and rather than his ego. A good captain will always put the team first.

I made similar point but deleted it after I watched the video again.

Henderson should never have let Balotelli take the ball off him in the first place, he made that too easy for him. After that, I can’t fault what he did as we wouldn’t have wanted a repeat of the Baines/Miralles incident.

Being a Captain is not always about being nice, it is about leading, doing the right thing, following the plan, getting the job done. Not facilitating some arse who can't or won't follow the basics.
