I think Gerrard and Liverpool need to take a break from each other. He's been working at the same place for 20 odd years under extreme stress at times, infighting and blame games. I think he needs to get some distance.

          In his defence:

A world class striker leaves - nobody able to replace him, either don't want to come to us or we can't afford him.

Our second best striker is made of glass and hardly contributed.

The squad needed strengthening for the extra CL games, many bought are young and need time to settle in. The average age of the squad is I believe the second youngest in the PL.

The demise of Gerrard has been quicker than suspected and nobody has risen to fill the gap.

Injuries to Allen, Sakho, Lucas, Sturridge, Lallana and suspensions to Can, Sktyl etc have also not helped.

All in all a season of disappointment but due to the changes expected.

I was hoping to slip into 4th but injuries and suspensions have killed that off.

Not sure injuries to Allen make any difference frankly to the overall performance of the side.

Didnt he leave Sakho out of the side even when he was fit early on in the season???

Our second best striker is made of glass and hardly contributed. - Everyone knows Sturridge is made of glass, we should plan for it.

The squad needed strengthening for the extra CL games, many bought are young and need time to settle in. The average age of the squad is I believe the second youngest in the PL. - Recruitment did not match ambitions, Brendan says he carries the responsibility.

The demise of Gerrard has been quicker than suspected and nobody has risen to fill the gap. - Gerrard's demise started earlier, it's was part of our defensive issues last season. He persisted with Gerrard too long. Really difficult one though, I'll admit.

Injuries to Allen, Sakho, Lucas, Sturridge, Lallana and suspensions to Can, Sktyl etc have also not helped. - Fair enough, but Lucas wasn't a part of the XI until december and the damage was done in the first half of the season.

I'm not saying replace him at all costs, but I'd review his position and consider one of Klopp, De Boer or Rafa.

Sakho was on the bench until he got injured in November IIRC.

I said back some time ago that Rodgers has had some issues to deal with ie Suarez leaving and Sturridge being made of biscuits

But there are other things that he hasnt helped himself with

Recruitment has been haphazard with no real plan, changing systems in addition to introducing new signings

Fair play to him he hit on something that worked for awhile and turned things round

My big worry is that he will revert to type and go back to the Swansea system for a few months before once again ripping it up and trying something else

Essentially we are starting again every December / January

Might explain the difference in results first half / second half.
