He doesn't have any insider giving him info on Liverpool. He is, however, mates with someone high up at Real Madrid. Or at least he was, can't remember who it was so don't know whether he is still there. Can't imagine RM would know our business though.

Jeffries is also a tit. Take anything he says with a huge pinch of salt.

        Interesting reading on reflection...

        Alex, Redspin care to comment?

Redspin can't unfortunately. But Alex.... "Suarez going is offset by the defence improving. "

Charly was right, and Tanner wasn't far off the mark.

If we can get a top striker in, that should put us back to our level for last season. Obviously no one is going to match Luis, but with the midfielder bolstered, and hopefully a tighter defence, I reckon third is a real possibility. City and Chelsea have slightly more quality, while we have a lot of exciting young players.

I think we are in a straight up challenge with Arsenal and ManUre, and we should be able to top both with more firepower.

As it stands, Sturridge is unreliable in terms of fitness. I think he will miss even more games if he is pitted up against a centre half each week, rather than the fullbacks he tended to be marauding against last season.

The other option is to push Sterling up front, who despite being small is quite tough. That is a bit of an unknown quantity though.

I am sure its not lost on the board that we desperately need a striker, and they surely also realise that a big name increases our exposure, and helps to sell shirts. I will be shocked and dismayed if we fail to find someone, but I am fairly baffled that this has not been sorted with only a couple of weeks until the start of the season, knowing the Luis was leaving and that the manager would have wanted some preseason with a new lynchpin. Regardless, that is the position we find ourselves in.

Alex "Like it or not Lovren will create stability for the starting 11"

            Charly was spot on.

Alan Kayll@alanthomas1969: Rodgers is not being sacked. As much as some fans may want it, its not happening.

The battle of the ITKs starts a week before the window opens this year then.

To be fair I've not known Alan to be wrong before, whereas Mike Jeffries...

Very prescient. Got a lot to live up to for next season's "where will we finish" thread!

Rodgers showed last year that if you sprinkle enough gold dust on an otherwise unspectacular group of players he is capable of making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. He has probably got a year left to repeat the trick and fix the damage of this season, but getting rid of him now would do nothing more than lead to another three-year plan under someone else. Too many now see replacing a manager as akin to getting a new car, something to be changed because you want what is in fashion.

I take every ITK with a huge shovel of salt. The only one who knew anything was that Duncan Jenkins until the club forced him to stop tweeting.

What a load of ****. If it isn't working then something has to happen. We can carry on making the same mistakes for another year and hope for a bit of luck, but how often does that work? Rodgers is an acquired taste and I've never liked him as a person, he seems like a bull****ter to me. If he gets results then I'm happy to let him continue, but I think he has run out of ideas and he's run out of time. I'm not advocating a Rodgers Out campaign, but if we can bring someone with better ideas in this summer then we should.

What is so wrong in a three year plan under someone else if that manager turns out to be better than Brendan?

With the window opening in a week or so did anyone catch what Gerrard said in part of his speech about some players coming in a couple weeks? I ignored it at first but now I'm wondering if we already have early things set up. If it happens then we'll have a good idea of what to expect next season. A little.
