Ings and Milner as our low hanging fruit signings.

Something needs to happen at the club both on and off the field everything is becoming very mid table the signings, the manager and the fans we act like we are a BIG club but we are in danger of being a BIG club among the likes of Everton and Spurs battling it out for a Europa league place. The owners talk about being winners the manager talks a good game the players talk a good game but how about less talk and showing us they are winners
Oh I say his vision there was lovely

I don't think they want a yes man asking for obscene amounts of money to buy a load of ****e players................and that could be where Brendan falls down.

I would be shocked if there hasn't been a meeting to discuss Brendans future. In reality, there will be some performance review even if we did fight for the title this season - to still look at how recruitment went, how the team was developing etc. If there has been discussions about other managers - and even a loose approach / conversation with an agent, then that is what would have got FSG thinking. Lets say they spoke to Klopp's agent, and were told that Klopp would be able to bring Marco Reus for £30m, and some top young talent from Bunderliga - like Heung Min Son, Çalhanoğlu or Max Meyer - then it would be difficult for FSG not to get excited about the prospect of a new manager. FSG as a group also seem to strike me as the type of organisation that are looking for an edge on their rivals. The fact that players from spain, italy and spain are scouted by our rivals in the premier league to great effect but in Germany a lot less so, then they might see that as a game changer. If Klopp and his team had strong scouting networks and contacts then we could possibly tap the bundesliga for more £10m Emre Cans as opposed to spunking double that on Markovics etc.

If FSG give rodgers the bullet though and then start an interview process, then i will be cheesed off big time. If they are going to replace BR, then i would like to think that the man is in place as we speak. And if that was the case, then I would expect it to have been leaked by now and also the fact that the likes of Gerrard talk about Brendan still being there next year suggests to me that he is safe..........

He has probably got a year left to repeat the trick and fix the damage of this season, but getting rid of him now would do nothing more than lead to another three-year plan under someone else.

Ah, this myth which Swansea have countered time and again. You have an idea on how you want the club to play. You bring in managers i.e. Martinez, Sousa, Rodgers, Laudrup, Monk, who will play that way. It smoothens the transition.

People said this earlier in the season before we went on our good run and I think it was mistaken then and I see no difference now. For me this is just an end of season here a few things have gone wrong and we now have nothing to play for. We saw in Brazil how over emotional build ups can go either way - galvanizing or diminishing a team. It didn't help us this week.

Even our good run wasn't spectacular and with the exception of City was against teams well in the bottom half.

Even the best of us are fallible.

Usually I think I can be quite realistic about our chances, but I was miles off here. Lovren is ****

It feels like the end of the Rafa period. I wanted to give him another season to see if he could turn it round, and I think Rodgers needs it too. Both took us to within a nats cock of the title only to crash and burn the next season. Rather than rip it all up and start again itd be quite nice to stick and see what comes out of it all.

It was pretty good. We drew against Arsenal and played well against Chelsea in the cup (IIRC). I wasn't necessarily making a point about that, but more specifically about the idea prevalent after the United game in December that Rodgers had 'lost the dressing room' and that this was unrecoverable. month later and that certainly didn't look to be the case.

11 points from a potential 15 against Arsenal, Spurs, Southampton, Everton and Manchester City wasn't too shabby.

To be fair, although we obviously overpaid I expected good things from him, coming off the back of some good performances at the world cup. But I didn't put it in writing.

It papered over a lot of cracks......lot of decent/average/lucky performances in that run if people actually go back an look at them again, and that's not revisionism, as there were plenty of observations on here throughout the spell.
Of course, every team on a run needs bits of luck to keep them going, but our issues were still there just bubbling under the surface. It was not even comparable to the runs of last season., but hey, we did pick up points.

That wasnt our good run, that's randomly selected results. We lost to villa and West ham in the middle of that lot.

                                Results during our good run.

From Manchester United away when Rodgers went with three at the back, we went on a very good run of form until Manchester United came to Anfield. During that run, we drew with Arsenal and Everton and bet Southampton, Spurs and Manchester City.
