I'm fully behind this idea and it's another gripe I had with FSG which will hopefully be addressed properly. However, this is something I'm interested in:

Interestingly there will also be a senior figure – likely to be a former player or manager although not one necessarily previously connected with Liverpool – who will act as a figurehead for the type of football Liverpool want to play and the philosophy the club want to follow.
This appears to be someone who will ensure the type of players and philosophy is adhered should Rodgers leave. However, Rodgers has the final say. If the committee had agreed on Dempsey, then I'm sure FSG would've sanctioned it.

I do wonder who this 'senior figure' will be. Sounds like a 'non-DOF', you know, a Footballing Director. I would've said Kenny Dalglish was the man for that, but I guess that won't be happening.

Ian Rush is quite involved at the club these days.

Can't see him being involved transfer, he would not be a good choice imo.

I would certainly listen to what he thinks of strikers we may be interested in. Don't really know much else about Rushie's involvement in the game recently to know what use he could be elsewhere.

He was apparently a staunch long ball merchant managing at Chester.

I would not be so trusting of his idea's, being a good striker doesn't make you a good judge of strikers.

I've heard rumours that it could be Txiki Begiristain

As long as he and the Brodge get on then happy days

Might be to do with the playing personnel when he was there.

I think Rafa would make an outstanding DOF.

Think they'll talk to rafa about the committee? No job, still loves us to bits, on of the best football guys there is. I'd weep....

They never even talked to him about the job he's best at, management so I highly doubt it.. Would like to see it happen if Brendan would feel comfortable with it.

I don't think Rafa would take a position like that anyway. I can't envision him being a member of a "technical committee" or whatever it's going to be.

Can't see it being offered to Rafa as he wasn't even spoken to about the managers job, I don't think he'd want to be anything other than a manager & I can't imagine BR would fancy working with him either.

Shame to be honest as I think he could be excellent in that role
