If you can't feel a little excited after watching the press conference and having a read, I feel sorry for you.

Well spare me your sorrow. I was 39,000 feet in the air for most of yesterday so was in no position to know there was a press conference taking place, much less see it. The first I knew about his signing was a text message from my daughter in England.

I'm sure Rodgers gave a spellbinding press conference performance but even in the era of the information super highway it's not normally possible to get live Sky Sports News as you fly over the Indian Ocean nearly 8 miles above the world.

I'll just have to go to the bar now and have a stiff drink to console myself for not having seen the mother of all press conferences.

In the meantime I think I'm entitled to be a little underwhelmed, thanks all the same
