Alonso would be perfect for this team right now.

Makes me laugh (well, cry); when he was here we were a two man team with Torres and Gerrard. Then Alonso goes and everyone says that he was a massive loss, world class and it's a crime that Rafa let him go.

    Tossers.
It goes one of 2 ways I suppose.. But I agree you can't be one of the '2 man team' brigade then bash Rafa with the you let him go stick.

I suppose it shows how good of a side we actually had, Torres for those 18months was the best striker on the planet and Gerrard just seemed to be on thrive from the players around him and still stood out.

Xabi was a great player for us but I think people forget he was a little inconsistent overall having a season and a half of being not so fantastic (maybe we just had higher standards )

I liked Babel! Was a donkey but I liked him The goal he scored with his arse against Besiktas was hilarious I remember a big portion of the Kop just laughing when it went in.

Has he moved the this is anfield sign up a little?
I hope del bosque the champions league ,European and world cup winning manager would talk about Mr Rodgers, as i read he rates him highly ,it would be nice if he could let it be known so that players who might be thinking that we have a manager that they have never heard of and are thinking twice about joining us ,get The message that this club has appointed someone special.

BRENDAN RODGERS has restored the original, iconic 'This Is Anfield' sign to the players' tunnel.
The original sign hung there from 1974 to 1998, before it was replaced by a newer version.

But exhibiting his eye for detail the Liverpool boss has had the original, bolder version restored.
“The nostalgia around this football club is immense,” he said. “I just felt that this was a sign and a symbol of what Liverpool was for many years.”

Said to intimidate visiting players in the 1970s, Rodgers added: “You're trying to use every which way you possibly can to get an advantage.

And there's no doubt that Anfield is one of the most celebrated and historic venues in world football - never mind British football. So to put up the sign was just another little element of trying to restore the great days here to Anfield."

Its all about opinions, but I'm more confident because he isn't.

                    I'm neither.

I just expect City and Chavs to dominate this league for years to come looking at the types of player they are after.

Doesn't mean **** if they can't play as a team.

The good thing if that is true is that at least it will stop the ant-footballing Scum team grinding their way to more trophies. The Scum are like watching the Williams brothers play tennis ffs!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Like this from an interview with Shelvey today..

You touched upon on it earlier, but you've had about a week now of working with Brendan Rodgers. What are your first impressions of him?

I think he's great. With all the passing drills he's doing, he's encouraging us to play all the time which is nice for a football player. Instead of doing a lot of long-distance running and things like that in pre-season, everything has been with a ball, which is more enjoyable. Everyone is enjoying training and looking forward to coming in.
