We have Coutinho who is best in the hole (so is Sterling most probably) we brought in Lallana again for that role and Markovic who is probably also best in that role

Seems overkill and the flipside to that is that we desperately needed cover in the holding midfield role and never signed anyone

It was a ****ing mess in the summer

All very true, also makes a mockery of ditching the 3421 as we have Sterling, Coutinho, Markovic, Lallana as well as Gerrard and Ibe (now) who all probably want to play in the 2 off the front.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

but more worrying for me is that history seems to be repeating itself at the club

Everytime we have appeared to be on the cusp of something we've imploded

From Roy Evans, Houllier, to Rafa and now to Rodgers this has happened over and over again
Couldnt agree more. We've been here over and over. Maybe thats what 'almost' feels like and alot can be said for having got so so close in the first place. We were close under Rafa and close under Rodgers most recently. And there is a lot to be said of having winners in a team - people who have riden it out and won leagues before. We dont have that, in either the manager, or the majority of players.

At the moment you would question the scouting, the top brass set up, the team etc.

The one good thing is that we have got the financial side of the club back under control, which means long term we should be ok, and that is very reassuring to me.

I dont think another manager would have us in a much better position - albeit we would likely have got 4th had we been playing well. I think whoever was in would have got us to champs league qualification last season and this season. In that sense, Rodgers has been a good steadying influence, but thats as far as (I believe) he can take us.

I cant help feel if we back a winner now, we would be on a solid foundation for success.

In Rafa, we might have a great run in Europe. That would be a great thing, as there have been nowhere near enough electric, exciting european nights like Rafa had us in for those great few years.

In Klopp, we might have a good stab at the league or europe, who knows.

But whatever the case, I cant help feel that the calibre of player we can attract with either name at the helm would be infinitley better than the players we will be in for this summer.

I recall the Alexis Sanchez thread over summer when I said I hoped we could play any other way but all out attack. I got absolutely slaughtered in it. Looks like BR didn't have a plan B (or Plan A) this season.

I'd love to know why & how Rodgers bought Ballotelli, what was behind it? How the hell did get past the scouting stage with an attitude like he has. I know many of us hoped he would come good but in our hearts we knew it wouldn't happen , he is just pants.

It can't help in the dressing room either, what with Gerrard leaving and Sterling sulking like a spoiled brat the atmosphere in there must be a bit moody to say the least.

Klopp, Rafa or De Boer for me. Can't decide between the first two but I'd be pleased if any one of them would come to us. They all have experience of winning leagues and trophies.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

What are the expectations if Rodgers stays

I think his objection would be Champions League but I cant see us getting that, a similar sort of position to where we are now is my expectation

Based on my expectations I would go for someone else and start again

i like rafa benitez but theres an element of been there and seen what thats all about. We had some brilliant times under rafa and even if we miss him this time, he will still be there for us if the next manager doesnt work out.

De boer has done well at ajax but for me he doesnt have enough experience at the top level. He has done well though.

Jurgen Klopp is the one that really excites me. His style of football is at a completely different end of the scale to rodgers patient, keep ball philosophy. Every time dortmund get the ball they look to attack teams and quickly. The fullbacks really push forward, the front 3 are very mobile and quick. When it doesnt work it looks ragged, but when it works there's no defence against it.

exactly the same as this season. Plan A doesnt work, and plan b, c and d wont be good enough to make up for the damage in the first part of the season.

If Rodgers is kept on he'll only get one season to get maximum results ie Domestic cup win along with 3rd to show fsg/fans he's the right man and taking the club forward...getting just 4th imo will not be enough considering 4th doesn't guaranteed CL.

He'll be expected to reach the top 4 I'd imagine. That was remit laid out by FSG in the first place this Summer his position will likely be decided by whether the transfers are laid at his feet by FSG and if they take the injury problems as a mitigating factor. Hard to know really as they're clearly not shy of making changes if they feel they need to be.

Squad is pretty dire to be honest.

It's because their is more movement in a graveyard than our team. Nobody is working hard to get into positions to receive the ball. Look at Barca, they never stop, always an option. We are so stagnant and easy to play against. We are not good in possession and when teams press us high, we **** ourselves.

There has been a conversation amongst the mods and constructive criticism and moaning about the team is fine but please keep it to that rather than sarcasm.

                              Thanks
