I agree about the lack of goals being the main problem ,

We all thought having Sturridge back in Jan all our problems would be solved , but it had no difference to our general play , still not creating enough,

The manager does not have the tools at the moment ,

I Do think we need to give him next season with Sturridge hopefully fit , Origi with us and involved , look at what he has done with Ibe and Sterling (rather than on loan) , and major money spent on a proper striker this year instead of last summer's shambolic waste of Suarez's money

the lack of goals is a very obvious problem.
more of a worry is how easily teams can play through our midfield. very little pressing, getting in their faces.

once the opposition have negotiated our midfield blockade the are straight into our defensive phalanx. no proper dm to intercept and make a challenge to either win the ball or make the attacker push the ball forward so its then easier for the defence to mop up.

we seem to be getting the basics so wrong. the training our lads do seems to not having any effect on the pitch. how does table tennis toughen them, they are ****ing wimps.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

It's down to the manager IMO. The players are not as bad as shown in the last few games, we're lacking direction, balance and purpose and that comes from the manager, he can also offer leadership and when it's lacking on the pitch he needs to offer it. He needs to go, if not this summer then we're only delaying the inevitable.

I'm tired of watching our defenders struggling almost every time, passing the ball between them looking for a pass forward. Opposition pressing high and our defenders risking losing the ball or a risky pass back to the goalie. Makes me nervous every game...

He lost three key players from last year , Suarez , Sturridge and Gerrard who I don't think has recovered from the Chelsea game mentally , two of them natural leaders on the pitch by performances ,

look at the goals taken out of the team with them three not playing ,

But it was his choice to replace them with Balotelli, Lambert etc. He says he has the first and final say on transfers so he needs to shoulder that responsibility.

Agree 100%. If you employ a mid table manager, you'll average mid table results and performances.

but do we need a big overhaul ? , Another midfielder , striker and right back signed as first team starters , think we could compete with the squad we already have ,

Squad is pretty dire to be honest.
This is the point for me. He's had a fairly considerable kitty, but there seems to have been very little consideration as to what the plan was. I have no idea where we're going. 3 years in and he should've built a strong spine, high on quality and experience, and we should now be in a position to add squad players to it. We're nowhere near that state.

Personally, I think that there's only Coutinho in the side that I'd be fairly sorry to see leave. All the other players could be sold off and I really wouldn't give a toss. Yes, some are OK players, but not good enough for me to feel any emotional about them.

I think what sums it up is that there's nobody in the squad that would cause a meltdown on here if they got up and left.

                            What the feck happened?

We could make do with that for a season, but I think we need รก striker, two top midfielders, a top CB and two fullbacks.

Look at our fullback and midfield options:

Moreno is more of a wing back - I have hopes for him but he's not good at, you know defending.
Enrique is on his last legs.
                              Johnson is off.
Manquillo doesn't get a look in.
Flanagan is maybe off, and coming back from a long layoff.

                              In midfield:

                              Gerrard is off.
                              Lucas maybe off as well.
                              Allen is OK.
                              Henderson good.
Can is promising but a little lost now.

How many of our signings last summer were bought as 1st team regulars?
Lovren for sure (who has been much better recently) and Moreno?
                                Maybe Lallana.

Balo, Lambert, Can, Manquillo, Markovic were all squad players

What we did last summer was strengthen the squad, what we need to do this summer is buy 3 or 4 nailed on 1st team starters.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
