Apparently Pjanic's cousin (not sure how closely related, but they shared the same surname) was killed while fighting for the Islamic State

How has the fact he is a Hobbit/Dwarf never been noticed before.

Edit. He is 5' 6" it transpires.

Credit goes to Rodgers for making a change at half time. Normally he would leave it dead late even though it's staring him right in the face but he did the right thing yesterday.

Interesting change he made not just for getting Mario on early but also the change of shape to allow us to play with 2 strikers whilst keeping the defensive unit shape.

Certainly will offer a different option with perhaps Coutinho or Sterling playing in the hole behind them.

I'm pretty sure Rodgers has made half-time substitutions before.

He has but I sometimes feel he makes the wrong substitutions or leaves it too late to change things.

He doesn't always use his subs in (what I feel is ) the best way possible, but this paid off, also got some minutes for Mario and Sturridge together.

I think you're clutching at straws. Last season, his options were Aspas, Alberto, Cissokho or Moses to change a game and often had to rely on the players already out on the pitch. This season, with a much improved squad, I think it's fair to say he's tweaked tactics or formation with clever substitutions at earlier points of the game.

As with regards to timing, on average, we're talking of a five minute window when the majority of managers change their side when they are not winning and that's between the 55th and 60th minute. Rodgers touches just short the of latter, Mourinho the former. There are more conservative managers - Wenger and Martinez to name two - that change later. So really, Rodgers is pretty average (and in good company) as to when he makes substitutions.
