I'm not sure it was a Hodgson reference was it? Surely not?

          Just a cool nickname, B-Rodge.

Noel Gallagher called him Brodge on MOTD and since then people with no mind of their own have unable to accept that its a **** name and have started using it en masse.

There's a bit of a trend in football.

It tends to be that attacking and entertaining teams struggle in Europe.

Every single coach goes through the same baptism of fire until they have a bit of an epiphany. For some, the penny never really drops. The reason these teams fail is down to arrogance. The managers simply think they're better than others and expect to dispatch these continental teams with the same ease they would domestic sides.

It rarely works out that way. Quite simply you have to have a team of stars to even contemplate this idea.

Arsenal play in Europe the same way they do domestically. Every year they fail at the first sight of a half decent side. Man City seem convinced that they can play a 442 against the best sides in Europe who for the most part play with only one striker centrally to dominate the midfield. Again, it rarely works.

Last night Rodgers went with two strikers and because we still had that 5 in midfield it worked. But second half they Sussed us out and at that point I think we needed that extra man in midfield. He needed to flip the front three triangle. I looked at their goal again. Can & Allen really started to struggle. They couldn't cover the ground. Can especially. When Tore cuts in, instead of Can (who was right side) engaging it was Kolo who faced him up. Then when Ba is going to be one on one with Skrtel, it's Allen who sees the danger and attempts to intercept, coming across whilst Can simply jogs back, either unaware of the danger or likely knackered and as such a bit tired in the mind.

I think with another midfield player we prevent that goal.
                  Forwards.......

What a turnaround from him. If he can just get his head around packed fixture lists well be unstoppable.

Rodgers has been saying all season it would take time for our players to get used to the system and for us to get to where we were last season. He was right, again.

To be fair I think most of them were already made 2 months back when he turned our form around.

Tonight was something else, but he's long since stoppefd getting pelters.

His line ups have been hammered pre Soton and today. Maybe he does know what he's doing afterall.
