If we keep this going 2nd is going to be a possibility. That's our 2nd hardest remaining fixture, it's on!

I was in the "NFI anymore, the depression is destroying my objectivity and loyalty" camp.Originally posted by Zapater View PostI was in the 'get rid' camp.
I don't think either of us were a minority.
Point being there isn't a point beating up anyone who gave up on him. It was hard. But he's learnt and added another notch to his bow.
With every failure he improves. He will be a world class manager. The failures will come less often and not last as long.
But **** it, name 1 manager without a blank cheque book who doesn't have bad spells?

i also had had enough of his apparent blindness to the bloody obvious.
there is no doubt he was struggling. we all know we go through ups and downs.
lets hope this high isnt the crest of another mini-wave before we have another stumble.
consistency is key. if he ensures the weak links either improve or they get dropped for someone who is more willing then we should maintain this form.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

The obvious changes every week. The 'obvious' says that we shouldn't play Lovren or Allen , or that Sterling shouldn't play CF, that 3 at the back doesn't work, that Suarez isn't a CF, hat Gerrard can't play holding midfield. What else am I missing that is so apparent to you but alludes the rest of us idiots?Originally posted by baitman View Posti also had had enough of his apparent blindness to the bloody obvious.

I don't think I ever reached a level of doom and gloom that some others here did, but there was a point when I thought his days were numbered. He has turned things around magnificently, he deserves massive credit for that. We're still improving and with a few quality additions we'll be challenging for the title next season. We have such a young team and if we can keep the best of them we'll have a great side for years to come.

This little run in the league especially is insane, playing good or awkward teams after gruelling cup ties midweek yet we've looked the team with all the energy in all these games, bar maybe Southampton but that was intentional anyway, we just sat back and told a team who cant score goals to try and score against us.
Liverpool FC 2-1 Manchester City after 120mins midweek in Turkey, and the mental blow of losing.
Southampton 0-2 Liverpool FC after the 1st leg of Europe on the Thursday.
Liverpool FC 3-2 Tottenham 3 days after the Derby.
Everton FC 0-0 Liverpool FC 3 days after a cup replay at Bolton where we had to play right till the last seconds.
Liverpool FC 2-0 West Ham 4 days after a heartbreaking extra time defeat for a place in a Cup final.
Thats crazy. Godgers is god.

Rodgers is, and always has been, ace. We're lucky to have him, I really believe that. He (and the club) have made some mistakes in his time, no doubt about that, but what impresses me so much about him is the way he learns and adapts and improves. He's not afraid to take some very bold steps, completely change his mind about a player or a system when faced with solid evidence, and will go against the perceived wisdom when it is the right thing to do.
When that lineup came out today I'm sure people were queuing up to complain about the lack of strikers, even though that was the system with Sterling, Coutinho & Lallana that has been so successful in the last ~2 months. Absolutely the right decision, he would have got pelters for that if we'd lost but instead we were the better side. Now please for the love of fowler would people please stop suggesting we change completely and go 2 up top!

Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.

Mine angry and defrauded young?

He's done very well to turn around our league form no question.
I'm still a little suspicious about his record in cup competitions though (and if we qualify for the Champions League next year this could affect how well we may do).
As far as I'm aware he still hasn't beaten a big club in any major cup competitions yet. That's the reason I hope we avoid the winner of the United/Arsenal game in the FA Cup this season.
2013/14 League Cup United (a) 0-1
2013/14 FA Cup Arsenal (a) 1-2
2014/15 Champions League Real (h) 0-3
2014/15 Champions League Real (a) 0-1
2014/15 League Cup Chelsea (h) 1-1
2014/15 League Cup Chelsea (a) 0-1
Given that 3 out of the 4 trophies we're aiming for each season (provided we're in a European competition) are cups, this matters in my view

That's a very small and slightly subjective sample size though, you could argue it shows we tend to get knocked out of cups by good sides (better that than lower league ones) too but regardless I think it isn't a huge stretch to say that Brendan is more of a league than a cup manager, at least at the moment.Originally posted by ChrisDR1968 View PostHe's done very well to turn around our league form no question.

Maybe that's partially about priorities and squad resources, or maybe it is about tactics and mentality, but what gives me so much hope about the future under Rodgers is how much he is still learning and growing as a manager.
Some of our fans we predisposed against him from the start as they entirely reasonably thought a club of our stature wasn't the place for a manager to be learning his trade. If the manager is talented enough I never thought that mattered in the long term, even though we might have some minor issues due to inexperience along the way.
Regular CL qualification first, cup wins later, sounds good to me
