Jamie Carragher has said Jurgen Klopp is his preferred choice for next Liverpool manager.
Speaking on Sky Sports following Brendan Rodgers sacking, Carragher said Klopp "has more to prove" than rival candidates for the position, such as Carlo Ancelotti.

"If it was either Ancelotti or Klopp Liverpool fans would be ecstatic," the former Liverpool defender said.

"If it was me, I’d go for Klopp, ahead of Ancelotti, I think he has more to prove."

"Liverpool’s not an easy job now. I think it needs someone with that energy and drive to get them back into the top four.Liverpool v Crystal Palace - Premier LeagueHowever, Carragher also had some words of caution for Liverpool fans, warning that there's murmurings behind the scenes that some Liverpool power brokers are worried about appointing Klopp.

He also questioned whether Klopp would want to work within the structure of Liverpool's transfer committee.

"There’s talk of people on Liverpool’s committee worried about Klopp," Carragher said.

"There's a lot going on behind the scenes. A lot of politics, players have been brought in that are not the manager's choice, and some people, who the fans don't know, are not accountable.

"Let’s know what goes on behind the scenes, it’s not just Rodgers who's accountable."
Now's the time to sort **** like this out too. FSG, time to get it right.

Still think he can be an excellent coach somewhere, a break will do him good and judging by his pre LFC time he was travelling around the world learning from different coaches so a bit more of that, learning from his time here etc he'll be alright.

Good news. He should have gone in the summer. We can still challenge for top four if we bring a top replacement in. Feeling much more positive now and I'm sure the players will too.

I feel mainly relief right now, but agree with this.

Brendan took us really close, but ultimately he doesn't have the tools for the job of managing LFC. Who knows if he continues develop he may get another top job in time.

He's a young fella, he must be hurting right now, but I'm sure he will come back stronger.

And for us - onwards and upwards.

              Ultimately the right decision.

In respsonse to the manner of how it was done so quickly, in actual fact its a few months too delayed. Note delayed, not too late, as there is still a chance to recover the campaign given the quality on show from the usual suspects.
Hopefully FSG will reevaluate the process and people they had advising them over the summer when they decided to stick with a failing regime, but hopefully, and frankly too often, a new day dawns.

It is the right decision but I am a little surprised at the timing. The change should have been made in the summer and it will be interesting to see how this affects Rodgers' appointments
