Brendan Rodgers: “I thought we were getting Alexis Sanchez, but we got Balotelli and Ricky Lambert instead. Dele Alli wanted to join Liverpool, but the club failed in doing so."

Still nearly won us the league in 2014 though. If he'd done that, not really sure how some people's feelings would have been today.
It's weird. The only manager we've had that I never really liked was Hodgson, because he was so anti Liverpool. Other than that, I had no problems with any of them. Houllier got a lot of stick despite being very successful, same for Rafa.
When I see the likes of Arsenal fans bickering over Wenger and you see the stability as a club that he brings to them, you wonder that football is devoid of any logic whatsoever and that feelings predominates over everything else. Are we winning?

The standard and consistency Wenger has given them for 2 decades is amazing. Champs league guaranteed every year, the odd cup and won the league twice early on.
Rodgers is a weird one. I don't think he was the right appointment to begin with. He did do a lot right, he harnessed the attacking forces well in 2014, but he lost it when given a big pot of cash after Suarez. He's not my cup of tea as a personality, but I don't suppose I'd have been saying too much about that had he been bringing the trophies I for us.
Nobody liked Hodgson, he was the absolute low water mark for us as a club.
Rafa and Ged, given the consistency we mainly showed under them and we challenged or won a trophy every season - what we'd give for that now.Modifying post.

That's a stupid thing to say. Suarez leaving the club would have been very difficult for any manager. We took a whole load of money, tried to reinvest in potential and young players and thought that Rodgers would do miracles with them.Originally posted by vlahka View PostSuarez nearly won us the league. Suarez didnt just score goals. He was the morale of the team. He was the reason so many other players lifted their game and tried so hard. Not a stupid thing to say. Proof being the season right after suarez left we were instantly poor despite the amount of stupidly expensive players rodgers brought in. On that proof alone my view is not stupid. Rodgers cant man manage, cant improve morale, cant do many things. Can however waste money on **** players. He's a pro at that.Originally posted by Fredo View PostThat's a stupid thing to say. Of course Suarez was all of that. He was and still is a world class player who has improved an already great Barca team. Any manager would have had difficulty replacing that quality.
And when we had him in our team, Rodgers built a team which nearly won us the ****ing league. The closest to any team we had for 26 years. Are we winning?

BECAUSE of Suarez. Rodgers didnt build ****. If he had he would of known how to replace him. Even someone with half his skill would of done a job for us. So once again, not stupid. Not sure why I'm debating this with you since you were happy to keep rodgers here and let him flounder for many more years to come because it was better than replacing him and starting again.Originally posted by Fredo View PostIt's a stupid thing to say.
