You think I don't hold him in the regard properly reserved for a manager of our club from -Originally posted by fred_plasticine View Posti personally hold him in higher regard. i don't think he would lay the blame on his door simply because he felt he needed to given some of the reactions to his initial statements. which is basically what you insinuate.
???Said something similar in his talk before the game last night. He was to blame before picking younger players etc etc.........paraphrasing, but it was something like that, but with a twinkle in his eye.
Methinks Brendan keeps an eye on the oul media/internet/vibe....
That is a huge leap you're making there mate. I would suspect that a lot of what goes on in the dressing room is not laid bare for us in any of the media releases. I suspect Rodgers confronting younger members of the squad on Sunday telling them they're crap and don't have a future unless they buck up their ideas is a hugely exaggerated scenario from what would've happened following the Cup exit. The overriding impression of the fallout was coming down hard on the younger players, Skrtel, Coates, lack of heart from the players etc etc, but very little from possible lack of preparation, wrong team selection, naive approach to the game etc etc
Rodgers words around his failures to that game appeared, to me, to come across as a response to those reports circulating since Sunday. In fact, they were more or less the first response to the question posed to him last night.
I'm sure he does genuinely feel responsible, and at least as culpable as any player he may have felt let him down in that game.....and rightly so. Its not a reflection on Rodgers character to suggest he wanted to draw a line under the defeat with an accepting of blame."I will make the boys feel your support"

Lets be fair and do our first team, ill put it as 4-4-2 for arguments sake.Originally posted by souliv View Post2005 side was miles better in defense and midfield
Dudek
Finnan Carragher Hyypia Traore
Garcia Gerrard Alonso Riise
Kewell Baros

Reina
Wisdom Carragher Agger Johnston

Reina > Dudek
Johnson > Finnan
Carra > Skrtel (IMO)
Hypia and Agger aren't too far different (IMO)
Enrique > Traore
Garcia > Hendo
2005 Gerrard > Gerrard
Alonso > Lucas
Rise > Downing (not masses though)
Sturridge > Kewell
Suarez > Baros
Not masses between them at all.Last edited by Gibbo; 31-01-13, 08:40 PM.The times they are a changin'.

i doubt he'd say something simply because he felt it was popular or because what he truly means didn't go down well with the fans and the press. i hold him in higher regard than that. that's all i said.

Bit of a silly comparison but.
Even if rafa wasn't far more experienced at that stage you're forgetting the impact of having Hamann as a sub, the comparitive quality of world football (I don't think that team would win it now), taking over a team in the CL would be far easier confidence and cohesion wise than taking over a team who finsihed 7th and just scraped into the Europa and no doubt many more factors.
Lets just judge Brendan on his own stuff rather than using inquantifiable maybe's.
He's a young manager, learning. And there's promising signs. Isn't that enough for now?

Yeah I think some patience is needed when it comes to him. I don't think any manager is perfect. You could go to any club and their fans would have some gripe with a player or manager. Even Fergie has his critics amongst Utd fans.
