Well it's still early but we paid a lot of money and haven't got much of a return for it.

The whole point of buying players is improve on what you have and get more points from it. Can't say thats happened really but it's nothing new.

We've spent an awful lot of money since 1990 trying to win the league and our success rate has been piss poor in general.

Allen and Borini are for the future really, Assaidi I think "allegedly" wasn't Brendan's signing, and I think we can all agree that we thought Sahin would be brilliant, and the transfer made sense.

Yesil is also injured, though he wasn't expected to break through this season anyway.

If you have the Liverpool history app, have a look through each seasons deals since 1990.

It makes grim reading for the most part except 1999-2000 and the early Rafa years.

We've been spectacularly bad at buying players for many a long year.
