I'm really annoyed that he got played.

Do we have the defenders to sit back like that? I'm not so sure we do. Who's to say they wouldn't have won the game if we had sat back, anyway then we'd all be saying "why did we change the way we've been playing all season, the way we beat City, the way that won us 11 games on the bounce".

Our strength does not lie in our defence, thats been evident all season.

      No need to blame anybody.

      It is what it is.

Mistakes happen all the time just some are more costly than others.

The bottom line is nobody expected us to be where we are and even tho we are all beyond being disappointed with yesterday's result, regardless how this season ends, I personally couldn't be more proud of this group of players and BR and what we have accomplished so far.

We have played in a counter attacking way this season, we certainly have the players for it. We have played good football this year but it hasn't all been all out attack.

I said his mistake cost us, not his fault alone. It not only put us behind with half a match remaining, but it also impacted the remainder of the game, strengthening Chelsea's resolve, increasing their time wasting etc etc.
More importantly it all added to our frustration as the second half wore on, increasingly limiting our options going forward, not to mention Gerrard's wilfulness in reaction to his mistake.

It was the defining moment of the match, whether you want to say it's his fault or not, it was his mistake and our failure to recover from the setup of the game that resulted in a defeat. Lots of blame to go round. Mistakes happen to even the best, and Stevie is most certainly one of them, but those are the breaks.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, which has a remarkable record of being correct, but it's also sometimes a false premise that casts inaccurate views of previous performances and how we've approached games.
I've already had to slap a couple of people today for suggesting we should have played for the draw........as if they'd learned nothing from history.

                That's Spurslike, Sarb.

Brendan had a massive chance to show he wants to win the league over wanting to prove himself this weekend and he faltered. We may still win the league, I hope we do, but he needs to mature

We got no where near their goal in 90 minutes, other than speculative shots, because they only wanted to defend. We should've played the man at his own game and taken the draw.

Rodgers will learn from it, for sure.

I touched on it in the post match thread. No team has gone from seventh to first, so perhaps this is one of those harsh experiences that will put us in good stead for next season's challenge.

I disagree with your stance on our tactics. We weren't over-committed, we weren't over-zealous and I wouldn't say that we were chasing the game, as others have pointed out, it was a mistake that cost us, not our approach to the game.

I'm not sure mate, Brendan himself has said he went for the win and knows no other way.

We had (have) such a massive chance to make history this season but I can't help but think Brendan's ego may end up being what derailed the title bid.

I hope this is trying to bait people otherwise it's some pretty disgraceful **** about the manager.

Where were your "lets play for a draw" posts before the game by the way?

Irony. From the man having a tantrum about the managers ego because a player slipped over. You should show a bit of respect to the man who's got us in the title race not be hammering him because we lost one football match via a fluke.

I'm of the opinion that Rodgers' comments post match are a nibble at Mourinho's chat and tactics. He's belittling the way Chelsea achieved those three points and trying to highlight our approach is the yin to Mourinho's yang.

I don't think Rodgers' ego came into it, maybe more naivety? It's only a guess, but I believe Rodgers would have taken a draw before kick off. We were looking to score - as we always do - but it wasn't detrimental to our shape.

Brendan's attacking style and tactics is what has us sitting on top of the league and some people are using that as a stick to beat him with
