My prediction is 7th this season or 6th at a push.

First 3 home games could really set us up if we get some decent results, a bit of confidence and belief from the players in the system. If we struggle early doors, there'll be the inevitable bitching, players doubting the manager and the pressure will be on.

I hope we don't sack him after 6 months of bad results. If that happened there is only one natural successor though. Welcome back Sami Hyypia

If we have a bad start I'm not logging on to this website.

So do we all expect 4th as a minimum now as it was for Kenny, Rafa ? Or is that beyond us in his time here too ?

It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

There was a poll on our expected league position last summer. Can't find it on my phone. I doubt 4th place had an overall majority.

Polls, often based on nothing more than the mood your in at the time.

Noone will convince me we are as bad a team as our league position last season, regardless of the saying 'the legue never lies', imo the sides we have to catch are Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs imo, so one with a new manager and hence similar problems to BR, One that's just had a much better than expected season and imo will do well to match it, and Arsenal.

              Not impossible surely?

Well indeed. I assume your 'as it was' was based on how you thought people felt at a time in the past. Basically, I'm contesting your implied suggestion that everyone though 4th was a must for Kenny but now don't with Rodgers, by questioning the first assumption. And ignoring possible reasons why expectations might be lower (eg spending loads of money on ****).

I'd be happy with Europa league position this coming season. I would not be happy with less but could tolerate it if we were showing signs of improving in our play gradually.

Me too. Pretty much the same as last year.

I was'nt making an assumption on fans expectations previously, it seems our owners saw 4th as a minimum, and cups as mere baubles, as we've heard 2 cups would'nt have kept Kenny in his job.

I merely asked the question if people expected it to be the same going forward.

CL qualification for me. Just has to be. And I honestly think it will be.

ok. I probably misunderstood what you meant by we. I think the owners will have felt that the return last season should have been proportionate to the outlay on players under Kenny, and maybe they will have lower expecations for this season based on lower spending and the manager not having a six month run up to the season in charge.

Thing is, we can take time to build this legacy, fine, but in the mean time Arsenal could start spending good money on players, with things hotting up among very wealthy shareholders, Spurs too maybe will improve, so 4th place needs to be a short term target for us.
