An assist from Carra is a greater (and rarer) achievement than a hat-trick by a forward.
That rug really tied the room together.

Fair enough. Just very odd seeing suarez facing the camera and looking around to see no one.

as i saw him going up for the corner i was thinking that it would the funniest thing ever if he scored a slap on the chav's faces.. flicked it on and i was like please go in then Suarez finished it and for some reason i wanted to say **** off

Reading that as not alike to Rafa, but that has the potential to reach a similar level in management, then I totally agree. I really like the guy, and I know some people think he's a bull****ter but when he gives interviews after matches etc he says pretty much exactly what I've thought about a game without mucking about.

case in point, his comments today

            About the game:

We were a wee bit tentative in the first half, and that was my fault," he said. "We normally play with three front players to press the ball much higher up the field. We played 3-5-2 in the first half just to see if we could get Luis a bit of support up front and still have the superiority in midfield with three midfield players.

"With the two front players we just couldn't get our distances right.

"We just couldn't quite press it and that's a big part of our game, because it allows us to be on the front foot.

"Once we changed it and went back to 4-2-3-1 we got more onto the front foot again. Great character traits by the players once again in the second half. I know as well as anyone how difficult it is here, so it's a terrific point and we could have won it in the end."
Can't argue with any of that. Quick to pick up on his mistakes and quick to change those things = a big positive for me.

About the state of play at the club and the near future

We need one or two more players, it's as simple as that. That was our sixth draw, and in a lot of those games we've come back from being behind. We've got great character and resilience and survival instincts in the group, and we're dominating games with the ball - but you need materials.

"If we can hopefully get one or two in January who can help us at the top end of the field we'll turn draws into wins.

"Luis just needs that support of instinctive goalscorers.

"Last year the club finished eighth. If we can improve on that, that would be fantastic in terms of where we're at. That's the reality of where Liverpool are at, I'm afraid.

"Hopefully over the next couple of years we can improve and our young players will only get better and better.
Again, can't argue with any of that.

            The club & the supporters:

The supporters are very educated. It can't be easy for them. Most of us in the room know the great history of the club, but we can't keep looking in the rear view mirror and looking back. We have to go forward.

"If you're not going to have a massive investment that will make it happen very quickly, you've got to develop it. That's where we're at.

"The supporters, I'm sure, see that. They are being very lenient with myself and the team so far, and I'm sure they'll be frustrated at times, but you can see from today and every other game we've had, the support has been absolutely incredible.
Total opposite to the sort of things the Bodge was saying at this point of his brief tenure, respecting us and appreciating that its tough for us but that in time, we'll get back where we should be.

Yes its only words, but I still think we'll see improvement through this season and into next with the right dealings in the market we can become a really decent side that is only going to improve. Its going to be frustrating on the way and we're not going to get a quick fix, but we need to give this guy a proper good go at getting us sorted in line with his blueprint.

IMy comparison of Rodgers with Rafa is on the tactical side of things. I think Rodgers is very strong tactically and the way he set up the team before the game and at half time shows that. Of course, they have different styles and Rodgers haven't won anything yet but there is potential in there.

As for our defence, yes there are teething problems but our main issues are with scoring goals, not conceding them. With the amount of possession and control we have each game, we should be winning far more games. This team is being built differently and we're learning to master this system. The players we have are already grounded in defensive discipline, so not sure it's a major worry.
              Are we winning?

The problem is to win you need to score goals and we dont look like getting many.
Brendan has to start getting wins under his belt over the next half dozen games

I agree, there's been a few uncharacteristic individual mistakes at the back, and we've not at all been able to keep a settled lineup there - Reina injured, Agger's served a suspension, Johnson's been in & out, Enrique only just back, Wisdom playing his first few games etc, not to mention the absence of Lucas - sure we've not been rock solid but we'll get a proper chance to see is the defence is an issue when we have some more players at the other end of the pitch converting chances and putting us in more positions to actually win games.

I think with a settled back four, a proper defensive midfielder, and an on form Reina, we'll see a big improvement in our all round defending.

Getting all three to happen though is another matter.

Yep. Rodgers is building the team differently.

The midfield is more of a worry for me than the back four

We have nobody in midfield winning enough possession and pressing the ball

Lucas might help that but we will also need more of a contribution from whoever we put in alongside him

We cant afford to give away goals because we dont score enough

There is your major issue right there
