Why would that be then? From where I'm sitting we appear to be the most improved team in the league, and that is including those players you mention.

And despite all the stick they get, recent improvements in the side seem to have come with big contributions from one or all of Cole, Downing & Henderson.

If I was daft enough to believe people on this site, we'd have been best of playing players who have clearly not contributed enough in training rather than those who have.

I think it's a calculated hint to FSG as to what's possible this season, not the next. Therefore throw the kitchen sink at the January transfer window and we might smash our way back into the top tier of Europe. Why not?

Most improved team in the league? When that team has made their worse start in over a century, with a squad like ours, that's hardly something to shout about. It would have been harder to get worse! And the last time I looked we were fighting to get into the top half of the table. The standards have really fallen if this is good enough.

Cole did well in the second half against West Ham, and he was quality in one of the Europa games against some no mark side, I'd give the man that much. As for Downing, he's been just as **** at left back, as he is on the wing, only now he's costing the side goals, instead of not creating them. Even Pepe's took a boot in the head for the useless ****er. I'd pay good money to see Frankie Boyle berate the coward for 2 hours.

The acceptance of mediocrity is very worrying indeed.
