What is clear is this forum is predominantly a football forum. A place where people who support LFC can discuss the club. Inevitably this will include a wide range of views. It seams that the way these views are being expressed lately will drive people away from here and it will be a poorer place because of that.
So maybe take a second before pressing submit and help improve the debate
Thats my two penneth worth
Happy to discuss

Seriously though, just this once like. listen to the man
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I'd go with that analysis.Originally posted by baitman View Post
fully get what you mean. if there is better pressing from the front when possession is lost then we are much less likely to get split apart by clever balls into the open areas vacated by the attacking full backs. this then allows some time for re-grouping further back.
the short snappy passing and moving game is also nothing new. it might be a little alien, not instinctive, to some of these players, but work in training and so on should have them improving. i see players doing ok with this, but as fatigue sets in they seem to revert to type and become a little less controlled. this is where the captain and senior players need to be getting the players to hold their shape and cover the open areas, and the manager needs to make his changes to add fresh legs and minds.
mistakes often come not because a player is physically tired, but because his is mentally drained.
I worry though that the necessary thing sin Rodgers system don't come naturally to our present captain. A big question at the minute is whether Allen can become the sort of rock to the team and influence on Gerrard that Alonso did (although Rafa and a positional switch also played their part)."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I may be misunderstanding your use of 'circulating the ball' but I don't think this is a necessary truth. I think Busquets at Barcelona would be a good counter example.Originally posted by el matador View PostAny defensive midfield player participating in circulating the ball is effectively part of the problem because hes always on the move. That applies to lucas as well.
A couple of tweaks and I think we could be doing a lot better.
I think that Lucas could and would help. I think one part of the reason is that unlike Allen he is willing and able to drop into the defensive line to cover a player going forward. My feeling is that Rodgers recent move to use a 3 CB + 2 WB formation is attempting to simulate this defensive side of his preferred formation better with the players currently at his disposal."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
